I think it's worth comparing to the deployment to the phone apps and the threat model there. AFAIK the phone apps are not open source, so what if I don't trust the developers? OK, let's assume I trust the developers, but thei

You need to use an arbitrary precision math library, I don't know how hard to use those. Those formulas have a hard limit in precision for standard floating point types.

My understanding is that the cause is error propagation. We can measure certain kind of masses really accurately in unified atomic mass unit. With better relative precision than the Avogadro constant. But if we used kilograms to write down

It looks like that the master file is blns.txt while the other files are generated from this text file (correct me if I'm wrong). So the strings are separated by newline characters and there is no way to escape in the strings. So a nas

I have several questions. If I have too bool bit fields next to each other, how are these ordered in a given byte? Even when I have a less then 8 bit field it can span over a byte boundary. Are the low bits go into the next byte or the high

While I don't agree with the tone, $400 implies the average CO2 emission in the US (16 tons/capita/year) which is fairly high. I wonder how much an individual can lower their own contribution.

Isn't separation of concerns addressed by modularization? Of course using microservices is one kind modularization.

We could use a logarithmic scale instead of percentages. If we defined a decibel scale for time then this would be a 2.83 dB change both ways (if we defined dB-sec as 10*log10(time/(1 sec)) ).

It would be interesting to include skip[1] as it has language level memoization. There was a recent HN discussion about the language [2]. I do not think that the naive recursive Fibonacci is a useful benchmark in any way though, it's a

The metre is defined as the length of the path travelled by light in a vacuum in 1/299 792 458 second. The metre was originally defined in 1793 as one ten-millionth of the distance from the equator to the North Pole. I don't k

I also played with improving the Halton sequence. There is an other generalization of the Golden ratio, namely the metallic ratios. Unfortunately using them performs worse than the Halton sequence.

Very cool! My only gripe of low discrepancy sequences is how they are used in Quasi Monte-Carlo integration: 1/n \sum_1^N f(a_n), so each point gets equal weight. One can generalize this that every point gets it's own weig
