Interesting, Abseil's btree claims to use a larger value: ... for absl::btree_set<int32_t>, nodes currently have 62 children ... https://abseil.io/about/design/btree

I guess you could sign a git note[1] on an existing commit. As a bonus you could add metadata about what you are actually signing off, like "approved" or even "rejected". Just adding an additional signature on top of an

I'm not surprised. 3D software generally need to get linear colorspaces right for various shading algorithms too, like Phong.

-ffast-math affects other translation units too, because it introduces a global initialization that affects some CPU flags. You can't really contain it to a single TU.

AFAIK ASAN does not catch uninitialized variables, MSAN does. MSAN is significantly harder to set up.

It would be just as fast if it detected the locale correctly, and used the UTF8 state machine for the UTF8 locale only. Other locales could have their own state machines or just fall back to a generic implementation.

There is implementation variance on whether you apply the dithering consistently left to right on each row or you alternate. Floyd-Steinberg definitely benefits from the latter approach. Also whether you apply the dithering in a linear colo

That's the only way to mock in some languages/testing frameworks. In C++ monkey patching would be quite difficult, but DI is simple. googlemock works this way.

And GCC/clang do get intrinsics that are nicer to use than inline asm, often with more optimization available to them as well. If the compiler does know about a specific instruction, then it's better to just provide the intrinsic

Sure, the stack as storage never shrinks, but it's constantly reused for different kinds of objects. Having said that dynamic memory is also rarely given back to the OS, and you are lucky to get a segfault from a use-after-free there t

It's allowed to reject programs that will evaluate an undefined operation on every possible execution. This is pretty much impossible, so no compiler even attempts this.
