To be clear, I was replying to josteink who said: It's an essential skill across the entire IT-indutry. Not knowing it means you're obviously not serious about your job . I thought your comment was totally reasonable :-)

Feel free to question my credentials, then. I'm 44, I've been a dev all my life, and I've never worked with SQL. I've worked with distributed in memory data grids, strange custom databases specific to trading systems, an

This is really cool - just bought it. I'd like a good way to get photos from the Photos app into it, either by sharing them or by directly accessing the photo roll from within Primitive. Great work!

You can use Kotlin just fine with the Intellij community edition, which is free, Apache licensed OSS. What more do you want?

Generally Cursive's completion should be (at least) as good as CIDER's, and if it isn't that's a bug I'd like an issue for. No-one has complained about it so far.

Actually, Cursive doesn't do this, it analyses source for its completions.

I like to get some classes in the local language for a couple of hours a day. You'll learn something new, meet some locals and you can often interact more with locals you meet afterwards when mangling a little of their language.

Yes, I remember that as well - it was very unfortunate. It's not what I mean though, I would swear that I had also seen criticism of the optimism training in the armed forces with respect to its tendency to disclaim responsibility for,

This is actually one of the strongest criticisms of Seligman's work. There's a clear example of this - after his work was published, the US Army adopted this as part of their training. After all, the results are fantastic - people

Nelson, New Zealand. Beautiful nature all around me, the town is just big enough and it's a really awesome place to have a small kid. My folks are a short trip away so we see them every month, and the pace of life here is totally relax

Also check out Pixie's - towards the end of https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1AjhFZVfB9c . It's a really interesting technique, and for a Lisp too.

This is explained in the readme: A Rust module that exactly captures the semantics of a C source file is a Rust module that doesn't look very much like Rust. ;-) I would like to build a companion tool which rewrites parts of a valid R

The linked part 1 is excellent, and includes a fascinating example of how to use the .NET GC outside of .NET itself. This seems like a really interesting capability, the only general-purpose open source GC I was aware of was the Boehm one.

I disagree on both points there, I don't think that an instanceof check is that costly compared to many of the other performance hits we're willing to accept with Clojure for saner behaviour. For example, persistent data structure

I agree - this is the only right answer. Like you, I'm sad to have to accept it, but it's the only way to a frustration-free (or lower-frustration) Clojure experience.

Clojure tries to put as many user faults into "erroneous" as possible I would absolutely disagree with this. Clojure has long had a Garbage-In-Garbage-Out philosophy, which puts it clearly into "undefined" territory. T
