This is spot on. I found myself using Fly for a project because it was super easy, not because I needed edge compute. TBH it's still actually unclear to me who needs edge compute? What apps require this sort of infra? It's not 99%

I’ve built a Nostr relay from scratch to learn the protocol and while there are some odd quirks, the fact that it’s maximally simple and the core spec can be understood in 5-10 minutes has way more value than you may immediately realize. It

I think this is a very overblown concern that will not be a big issue in practice… at least not for a number of years.

There’s no theoretical limit to LN transaction numbers because there’s no shared global state. You could have many very high throughput channels processing payments in parallel.

Even with all that baggage Uber was still 100x more ethical than all the mafia-run taxi cartels they destroyed.

It’s no secret that most people at Google hardly work. It’s been like this for years but you’re right it’s management’s fault for allowing this culture.

Useful PoW is unlikely to be successful. You need a puzzle that’s difficult to compute AND very easy to verify the result. It also needs to be robust to many different attack vectors.

The main difference is that the top miners don’t stay the top miners. There is constant churn. The top stakers remain the top stakers at virtually no cost, and they will almost always be custodians/financial institutions. Additionally

Yes PoW is way better because miners need to constantly expend resources to maintain their right to participate. PoS validators keep their throne for life at virtually no cost.
