never be afraid of refactoring, but only do it when you're changing a piece of code anyway (otherwise you'll drive yourself nuts) get others to review your code whenever possible. for that matter, do code reviews yourself whenever possible

This is far and away not the best solution, but it works for me, and I can use it with only mild annoyance from a computer where I haven't "installed" it, by using an online sha256 generator. On a mac, replace "sha256sum" with "shasum -a

With the amount of muscle memory and (deeply personalized) customization that goes in to getting comfortable with an editor, it seems like the hardest place to attract users, and since vim and emacs have already done everything worth doing

That's not the point, the point is that Maybe is the right way to handle what nil (or None or null) fails to handle properly. Scala gets it right too, IIRC, with Nullable. 1. A "null" instance of one type should not be conflated with a "nu

I commend the author for re-implementing basic typing for Ruby, but this example completely misses the point. If the client to User asks whether a user is an admin of a project before asking if it is a member of that project, the client co

Data structures which require a disk seek per random insert are obsolete. LevelDB is using a Log-Structured Merge Tree, one of many write-optimized data structures (but not the best).

I think jekyll or nanoc had a "run in background and watch this dir for changes" mode, you could sync its output dir with dropbox. EDIT: if they don't, you could always do it pretty easily with inotify and a bash script (inotify-tools on ub
