So I only see two major downsides: 1) I basically I have to verify/transact every "printed" money the moment I get it - preferably using a smartphone - in case someone else has a copy of it and "takes" it first. Co

The rubber bands would hold the case in place but the case is not strong enough to sustain the device. In other words: move your head to fast and it flies away. Hands prevent that.

Head Mount setups - as you point correctly out - are required for a long-time VR consumption. But they come with caveats: - They make the devices heavier & bulkier. - You need a good mechanism to fastly switch back to use as a mobile

Oh! I got to try the InstanTRIP PAD 02 a while ago but it never seemed to have made Hacker News. Thank you Sacha for posting. The Pad02 is a interesting step forward from the 01 version http://www.amazon.com/InstanTRIP-PAD01

The wealth of the united states has been concentrated to very few people in the past 20 years. Those people are owners of multinational conglomerates that don't give much about borders anyways. Where the U.S. as a state used to be a dr

The poor guy! If I look at the bubble pricing sheet then this month is going to be a bit costly for him (My assumption is ~100000 hits = 920 USD). Not that he would have any advertising on it ;)

First: this document should be on github. How do I do a PR on a google doc? My biggest problem with this proposal is that it will force a full-blown code-style on you. Many, perhaps most, of the features will be part of the common consent h

I fail to see how it breaks anything? It is opt-in. Aside from that "use optimize" is indeed a better naming.

Science fiction authors change the world with ideas (having ideas of how the world could be). Visualising/putting-in-words what you think the future could look like contributes to what the future will look like. I guess companies know

The sarcasm was completely lost of me because of the brakeless bicycle movement: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fixed-gear_bicycle#Brakeless I thought he is just a crazy bad-ass.

Sex is not fun. Someone needs to say it. Unless you and your partner are devoted to sex it is not fun. In a society where one of the partners doesn't have a voice (woman, usually) that doesn't matter because consent is per-definit

I know not everything needs to be opensource but I can't shake the feeling that this project could be taken very far with a github link :)

I have been working on color search before and there are a few things they did implement in a suboptimal fashion at best. For one I would choose http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lab_color_space or http://en.wiki

Very interesting css preprocessor/layout engine combination, kudos 1999. Many people annoyed with css might love this quite a bit. I wonder about the performance implications. The layout engine obviously has to run in javascript and th

As far as I can tell BrowserSync tries to have a little more generic approach and as a result reloads with a regular livereload script, thus triggering html site reloads while Takana (as I mention in another comment) only reloads the css fi

The reason for the comfort of Node is imho. NPM and the way it easily gives you fast access to a lot of functionality. That being said it is worrysome that NPM has the size of 80GB+ as far as I know and mirroring is not quite that appealing

I like that he mentions "integer". It is still very incredible how JavaScript can work well without a integer construct. Or threads and shared memory. Or bells and whistles.
