I made no such claims of validating any quacks or quackery, as a careful reader would recognize. What is your agenda in misrepresenting what I wrote? To clarify the point; the fact that a former president commented on the UAPs at all was re

Yes that’s all fine and dandy, but Obama did make a statement about the UAPs recently, which was remarkable in its own right. Surely claims of quackery are true 99.9% of the time but it’s that .1% that’s the kicker.

Always a treat to read something by Charles Stross. Seems like Accelerando was required reading for the previous generation, is it still? I was not familiar with the UK advanced gas cooled reactors, which use CO2 to cool the core and transf

I find it’s useful to consider all the angles until one does make sense. In this case, enforcing miserly annual increases does make sense if only a small percentage actually do leave for increased pay. I personally find this to be true in m

Recently my son (8) was talking about how cool his uncles vr headset is and made the leap to what if that was in your brain! I was impressed he made that connection. Then I reminded him how all the games on his iPad forced him to watch ads,

So much this. Woe to you if you got to ipo on a pile of garbage. But ipo you say! Good luck scaling, adopting dev ops best practices, and keeping any sort of sla’s on that. And reducing cost or on boarding new hires? Pain is in your future.

I don’t think blaming JVM is productive, but identifying “JVM” as a proxy for “language runtime designed to optimize multi processor machines” is the core element here. One could imagine a vm or runtime that is async and multiprocess that a

My understanding is that cheap labor (China) is why there was nearly a complete stop of factory automation. Instead of increasing automation, low cost labor was utilized instead. Now that wages are rising around the globe, there should be i
