This is all speculative, but not fiction at this point clearly. Sci-fi authors have explored this possibility for decades, maybe their ideas could be of some help? I struggle to see how though; how to train Asimovs three laws for example?

At the end of the day it’s an empty platitude and vain hope that work will pause or be considered carefully. Certainly public entities can be made to pause, but nation states won’t. If there’s an advantage to be had; the work will continue

I really lived this once. I was an engineering manager of a team that maintained an app that was used extensively by a particular business unit. My understanding was the app was a money maker because customers contracted to have people use

I’ve adopted a similarly pessimistic view, that even if I’m one of the ones who gets to keep my job, “it’s” all going to shit from here. I’m surprised and confused to say the least.

My first thought was “What about JNA?” > Over the years, numerous frameworks have emerged to fill the gaps left by JNI, including JNA, JNR and JavaCPP. These frameworks are often a marked improvement over JNI but the situation is still l

Fort Knox is audited regularly, and in 1974 cogress sent a delegation to verify it. One can easily imagine nefarious actors siphoning some off; how many tungsten bars are in there? They’d have to test every bar to know for sure. Has this be

Same here, nearly killed our son at 5 months with a few crumbs of peanut butter cookie. Other kid no problem. Really seems like there’s more to it than simply early exposure.

This comment gave me a sense of nostalgia in two weird ways. My dad used get addicted to a few select games too and play them through. I remember him playing Zelda and Metroid obsessively. The other thing was how communal playing video game

I don’t get all this criticism. It’s a rant, I personally enjoy a good rant so thanks! Now everyone saying you don’t understand the role? Hogwash, most companies and their management are incompetent and don’t understand the role either, the

It’s interesting to read this. I grew up eating a pretty limited diet in retrospect. The seasoning was salt and black pepper mostly. The first time I tried Indian food I was about 30 years old. I’ll never forget it. My mouth exploded with t

This is third shoot down we’ve been told about. First was the Chinese balloon, second was the small less maneuverable vehicle off of Alaska, and this third one in Canadian airspace. Feels like some cold conflict we’ve been unaware of is hea

In cobol it wasn’t dynamic, or infinite. The syntax of the array/table declaration includes a maximum and it would allocate the entire array statically up to the max.
