Notch was well aware of the issues around allocating a lot of small objects in Java. He used to write 4k games with a byte code assembler. Implying technical knowledge of the platform was not the problem.

It is sooo depressing to show off a game you put your heart into only to hear “the graphics suck”. It turned me off from the hobby a long time ago.

I’ve often wondered if smallish internal combustion engines (with variable pitch propellers presumably) could increase range at the cost of some weight. Maybe someone familiar with the trade offs could comment?

There would also be a difference between deletion and replacing with a space character. Ie shorten the program file by one char (however many bytes depending on encoding). Can anyone explain what deletion means in this useage?

Crossing clock domains is a very interesting topic. For these ultra high speed connections, does it simply boil down to a really big fifo? One could easily imagine a tree of fifos that are interleaved by some scheme.

Unintuitively, the principles nuclear reactors operate on are really very simple. Put enriched uranium rods close together and they get hot, hot enough to create steam and hence electricity. The complexity comes from designing and engineeri
