Does anyone recall an “intro to computing” style book that was available free online and starts with using the gas assembler and talked a lot about elf format executables? I lost the link a while ago and don’t recall the name.

Is it true this is also why nuclear pulse propulsion from Earth surface to orbit is impractical?

Can you cite case law around where some one misrepresented their capabilities in a job interview and were criminally prosecuted? Like what criminal statute specifically was charged? You won’t find it, because at worst this would fall under

The mined material (ie the entire asteroid depending on its composition) would still require delta v to a suitable orbit.

With the cheap kg to orbit heavy lift systems coming online, these near misses are becoming opportunities for vast riches if they can be captured and mined. Less massive making the orbit easier to change.

I was thinking recently how there used to be about a lot of talk about waldos and nanotechnology. I think the idea was to build a Waldo that can assemble a 1/10th scale Waldo, repeat and voila you are soon building nano scale contrapti

Also, do Chinese companies have licenses for all the ARM cores they produce? I assumed they don’t. They traditionally don’t care about IP, so it’s a wash anyaway.

The wave of propaganda via conservative media was total and complete. I believe there is a lot of foreign money involved. I hope other democratic countries have taken note.

Remember when fizzbuzz was the gold standard in trick interview questions? And Joel was a revolutionary for advocating it? Things have certainly changed.

As a layman, what I don’t get is; the speed of light is constant, so wouldn’t that nullify any time/space fluctuations due to lack of mass/gravity?

Concretely the “market opportunity” is volatility in odds movement for a particular event? Or amount of bets on either side of an event? Too bad no exchanges are available from the US. Has anyone gotten around this wit vpn or some such?
467.
by le-mark 2y ago
Thanks for the corrections; more info to refine my understanding. In a way it seems you are the book maker and the “exchange” is the platform that lets you do it (matches bettors).

That happened, the story appears here from time to time.

These guys never talk about the details. Either they’re LARPing or there’s something to it. “Betting exchange” is your clue. I’ve followed this thread before. Apparently the exchanges are mostly in Asia and allow people to buy and sell bets

I would use quickjs today for embedding over lua. Everyone know js nowadays and quickjs is really nice. The advantage lua has is library support via Lua rocks. Maybe someone can comment on the quickjs ecosystem?

by le-mark 2y ago
I’m not familiar with either of those frameworks so can’t comment on them specifically, but 10+ years ago not using spring/boot entailed glueing together a lot of disparate libraries to do things spring boot had built in. Spring boot i
