This was back in 80s when you were working on c compilers? That’s an interesting story (80s compiler scene and what you worked on) I’ve picked up bits and pieces over the years, have you written it up anywhere? Would be benefit for many I t

I’d add this. Servers used to be viewed as pets; the system admins spent a lot time on snow flake configurations and managing each one. When we started standing up tens of servers to host the nodes of our app (early 2000s); the simple admin

How long was this person working on it? Six months? Anything this big should’ve had some sort of design review. The worst is some junior going off and coding some garbage no one sees for a month.

Casual observers may not know that pundits have been calling for a catastrophic collapse in the markets for as long as I’ve been watching (early 80s). There have been a lot of dips and a few recessions in that time obviously, but beware the

This article is less about assembly programming and more a tour de force on retro game development for the Atari ST. The author talks about using inline assembler to optimize gfx and game rendering inner loops. Oh and the author ported Doom

Nice rant, I’m here for it. This is what I miss from the early internet, a good old fashioned rant. It may go off the rails from time to time, but consistent in its frustration. Note some companies give Mac books with admin, smaller compani

I spent a lot of time on systolic arrays to compute crypto currency POW (Blake 2 specifically). It’s an interesting problem and I learned a lot but made no progress. I’ve often wondered if anyone has done the same?

I’ve always been curious how Roblox games are deployed and managed. Is each instance of a game executed in a docker container, and the luau code isolated that way or is there some multi-tenant solution?
