Either you put a demo and it interests me enough I might remotely consider logging with Facebook ... maybe. Or you accept fake accounts and be thankful for a lot more feedback from HN. By being greedy you have more to loose than to win. I r

It feels like you are implying Kay didn't work with Lennart. it's simply not true. The systemd mailling list was created in May 2010 and Kay was already registered and posting there. Check the archives. They were working on systemd from the

Had not seen your comment before adding mine but I think you're spot on. And having had to fight with openladp last week I can only agree with you. I used to know the "old" standard text file config and the new slap.d config style is confus

True. And I find myself struggling more than I'd like to tame the beast. That said, putting my devil's advocate hat on, if you and I were to start afresh not knowing shell, we'd struggle too. And truth be told, I'm not objective enough to t

You still have to download 81Kb of code whereas native is just that, native ;-) It's a trade-off. Depends which browser uses your target/customer.

Out of curiosity, was your python code relying on dicts or using structured classes ? It looks like Pypy is better at optimizing classes than dictionaries. Which might explain to some degree why people are not seeing the perf improvement th

Like when Romans invented the scalpel forgotten only to be reinvented in the 19th century (stretching a bit since IIRC the Arab kept using it) ? That a subject that never cease to amaze me. Civilizations rises and fall and with them knowled

Well maybe you should embrace it then. Wake up, focus on doing something and back to sleep. After reading that article, I would definitely try that.

You've have a point. But then, it's a bench mark and it would not be the first time that a bench is done using different settings than in production. Like I said, that lmdb is used in OpenLDAP doesn't automatically mean it is used with the

I did not delve into the details as you might have, but whenever I see mmap associated with huge perf I tend to wonder about corruption. I've seen to many bench comparing ondisk stores with in mmap stores flushed to disk one in a while. The

Hum do you mean HDA by Intel ? If so, look closer because HDA is an umbrella for a lot of codecs. Edit: to be clearer, HDA does not automatically mean Intel chip. I made that mistake before.
