I wrote and use daily http://onemodel.org (AGPL, uses postgres), for many reasons listed there :) . One way to think of its current state is a text-mode, easy-to-learn (i hope) infinite mind map of things, where I store and c

You make some good points; I also think we can (and need to) learn from others. As I wrote in another somewhat related discussion ( https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=22096571 ) recently: To me, the most important thing is

To me, the most important thing is to fit one's career in with one's overall purpose and goals in life. Like, to make sure the ladder of success is not leaning against the wrong wall (Covey). I've written much more includin

Very recently: Spillworthy, by Johanna Harness ( https://www.amazon.com/Spillworthy-Johanna-Harness/dp/099138... ). Might be targeted at a teen audience, but I enjoyed it very much, as relaxing, clean, light fiction

Skimming is helpful, especially I think if in a structured way: reading the beginning and the end first, then deciding if more is worth it, and if so, reading the first sentence (or so, maybe last) of each paragraph, and then deciding if mo

I spent much time thinking about this, and planning the process for dating (didn't feel good at it, as I don't intuit social situations quickly but have to think things over more, and have been a jerk before). But met my now-wife

To clarify this slightly (I guess I have an urge to make a speech): it has really seemed to me, that, for the benefit of an organization (medium- and long-term), and the peacefulness & less pain for everyone involved: if anything is go

It's nice if the environment lets one have a (replicated?) shell account so you can have some place to put things (but I don't pretend at all to know if that is wise in the environment you work in). I have at times done copy/

Good question. I often (not always) start the custom command name (script or alias) with the same letter as what it abbreviates, and if memorizing were my goal and that didn't help enough to remember them, I might do as you suggest. B

Basically, I write a script (or use an alias) for everything that I do repeatedly which would otherwise require typing more than 2-3 unique characters before using tab completion. The habit just makes life easier (and is fun and relaxing s

I don't think we are competent to solve this when we can't trust each other to keep our word, and especially when we have rejected the specific advice of the planet's Creator. I realize many will think that is silly, but I h
