I was about to say as well, JavaScript, SQL, were both niche DSLs that are now mainstream enough that people prep them for general software development interviews. JavaScript is now a general language, but maybe the most popular DSLs break

Absolutely, especially with the recent "invention" of the native font stack as a solution that does not require loading external files while showing a nice modern font. Imagine if the trade-off was more explicit to the visitors: w

Same here, using Winamp 2.95 on a HiDPI screen as my main audio player. The best feature that it seems no other player has reproduced yet is being able to hit the J key to do an instant search for a song, with 0 latency: the search narrows

Wow, what a beautiful piece of writing. The sayings from that period, the weaving of "recipes", and the little girl's mindset add a lot of color to this piece.

One of my pet peeves is that these articles never report the a priori distribution of labels that are being predicted. Guessing whether you're at sitting vs walking with 90% accuracy is not very useful if most people are usually sittin

I teach user interface design, with a bit about typography but I'm not a typographer myself. But I feel like a lot of the advice there is taken from graphic design (based on the original EoTS book), and not that practical for web desig

I found when I tried doing this "calibration" phase, that it's not just about sheer time spent on a task. A task that took three 1-hour sessions is often not doable in one 3-hour session, because you lose creative productivit

At the end of the day, the data has to live somewhere. If not on disk, then in memory or straight from the network. If the device is rooted, then the user would technically have access to any of these, so it doesn't really matter.
