Chinese youth rejecting the pressures of hustle culture by ‘lying flat’
- rowanG077 5y agoI wonder how many of the 60%+ truly mean what they say instead of just following the current trendy thing.
- anm89 5y agoIt's funny how China related threads are always full of ad hominem attacks on on whoever the official party villain is for that story. Feels like propaganda on multiple levels. The strange arguments and random statistics. The attacking fairly sympathetic parties. Exactly following the party line.
- rowanG077 5y agoHow is my comment specific to China? In fact I made this comment because of the trends I see in my country. People on Instagram and TikTok preaching stuff which all comments agree with and yet when you look at what's actually happening these people are not following through. It would be very surprising to me if China, or really any other country, is different in this regard. Please try to at least not interpret a comment in the worst possible way.
- mcilloni 5y agoI always find ironic how the allegedly "communist" Chinese regime managed to create a system that basically has exploited workers for decades, in ways that are much worse than capitalistic countries. It really requires a lot of doublespeak to justify that.
- Proven 5y agoRecall that in (free market) capitalism one is valued at their market value. Which, for a worker, may not be very high (net present value weekly wage times 50 times number of years at work) but is still something. It beats socialism where people and their lives are worth nothing. Imagine if the CCP had to pay damages for lives lost in Mao's purges calculated the same way American firms get fined for customers who spill hot coffee on their lap. They would have gone out of business by 1946! The real question is why is this laziness celebrated in the West? I bet the answer is because it fits the "contribute nothing, and rightfully claim your BNI" narrative promoted by globalists and socialists in the West. As Covid 19 is slowly disappearing, they need to build consensus around the need or justification for continued handouts for people who simply want to get paid for doing nothing at all.
- redis_mlc 5y agoAlso, most hospital visits in China are cash in advance, unless you're a CCP member, then it's paid for by involuntary organ transplants. (Not exaggerating.) They even made US health care system look good in comparison.
- emptyparadise 5y agoEither they have a brilliant plan for accelerating capitalism until its breaking point or the party cares more about staying in power than about their ideology. We can only imagine which one it really is!
- machinehermiter 5y agoI love to work hard but 9am-9pm 6 days a week and not be able to afford a house is absolutely crazy.
