Market failures are an idea. An idea that the market is failing because someone isn't being provided with something that they want at the price they want. You are saying that if a good isn't being provided, it's a failure. But who told you

Have you ever driven a car with a manual transmission and tried to set off with the handbrake pulled? Brakes can bring a car to standstill even fighting the engine. The brakes in the SUV in front are dimensioned for that SUV and I assume th

That sounds cool. Still not a Mac though. Maybe very very few people will hack it and run Mac OS X on it, but many people who buy Macs just want something that works out of the box.

The appeal is that it is small and light Mac. The described computer is heavier and has a slower CPU and is not Mac.

It doesn't have to be very expensive to drive a luxury car. Buy a used one for under $10k. You don't have to be a millionaire to do that. Here's a BMW 5 series for less than $6k. http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/ctd/1997867593.html Or an

I'm more concerned about other aspects of the U.S. economy. Such as inflation. That's what made pennies worth so little in the first place. These numbers are also more interesting than pennies: http://usdebtclock.org/

Yeah, there are technical alternatives already, but it's a question of econonmics. If there is less oil produced prices will rise and less will be consumed. There are many alternatives, but today oil is just cheap enough for many uses. Natu

Looks like some fishy sites are linking to that page. http://www.google.com/search?q=links%3Atoksvaerd.net&ie=... Maybe it was previously hacked and part of a SEO-spam network?

Interesting concept. But this makes me wonder: http://toksvaerd.net/ is number 7 on the list for Denmark. It's apparently a site for parents of school children in a small town. The site has had about 300 visits in 2010 according to their

Everyone is brought up to think it's the best country in the world. But I'm glad I emigrated and the other people I know who moved seem pretty happy about it too. No that stuff isn't free just because it's paid for by taxes. And because the

Societies don't get wealthy by consuming. They do by producing. As a rule, if something is taxed there will be less of it. High marginal taxes decreases high value work. It is a terrible idea. Immoral too.

Because it takes more resources to make two sites instead of one. Also on the iPad why would you want a crippled "mobile version" of a website, when the device is capable of displaying a normal website?

Regarding the X3, I agree with Jeremy Clarkson that it's pointless: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u2LLMxlkT-Y It's not really good off road, and as a car it's worse than a normal car. For an off roader can get a used Range Rover for abou

It is already reality to a certain degree outside of the US. The difference can likely be explained by how some combination of the economics, regulation, politics, culture, geography is different in the US.

Fair taxes is an oxymoron. A flat tax is more fair than a progressive one. But it would be more fair with a head-tax aka. poll-tax. Everyone pays the same amount.

ACN fell from about $40 to $0.01 and came back. 4000x or 400000% Buying a few thousand $ worth at a penny wouldn't have been a bad trade. http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=ACN EDIT: Such as trade would most likely be cancelled though.

The license fee is a de facto tax on TVs. The license money goes to the BBC because the government said so. If the government is unhappy with the BBC it can take the license fee away again.

BBC has government funding. That's not independent. News reporting can't possibly be completely "unbiased". You have to choose what to focus on and how to report it. I think the state controlling a big media institution is terrible.
