“Actively protect” is an overstated term. You don’t need to file against every edge case to demonstrate that you’ve been protecting that trademark.

Exactly the same as what the public SSH shows you: ie nothing of any direct risk but an identifiable piece of meta data to someone determined enough assuming the person creating that profile didn’t bother to enter anonymised information fo

You profile isn’t private - regardless of whether you contribute to any repositories (even just private) or not.

I’m not aware of any service that is protective over usernames. Some don’t allow scraping of user profiles for “privacy” reasons but that always struck me as a shallow excuse given they’re publishing them anyway - I often suspected the real

That’s my point though. If you’re concerned about privacy enough that even a throwaway SSH public key is sensitive then GitHub (and even any public git repository) is going to be a bad idea because they’re going to be leaking far more ident

If you need privacy then you shouldn’t be uploading to GitHub in the first place. The moment you do that you’re publishing email addresses, other projects that you contribute too and potentially leaking your timezone by virtue of commit tim

The distro is mentioned several times throughout the article and even featured in the screenshots: Debian. I didn’t spot the DE but I might have missed it because I largely skimmed the article.

The boarding and departure adds a fair chunk of time to that too. Trains are a lot more convenient in that regard.

Given the title I was expecting a lot more obscure entries. I’d be shocked if many people reading that kind of article hadn’t heard of at least half of those formats. Or maybe I’m just getting old…?

The article specifically said they were doing snapshots because you cannot rsync on live datasets. They’re doing it correctly and would still be doing it correctly if they were on spinning disks. ZFS is designed exactly for these types of

Nothing you’ve described there wasn’t possible with spinning disks storing large data sets. In fact if anything, ZFS is ideally suited to exactly that scenario.

You are arguing the exact same points the GP made but using selective quoting to make it sound like a rebuttal.

Still doable. AWS have a tool for parsing JSON files and turning them into a JSON feed: Textract. Given you’d already be inside the AWS ecosystem building the Alexa skill, it would make some sense leveraging that service.

Good write up. I’d also add to that, that modern techniques are written to use the modern hardware. It’s easy to forget that each upgrade to graphics is an exponential jump. Going from 8 colours to 256 colours on screen. Jumps in resolution

You seem a nice guy and this is clearly a passionate topic for you, I just don’t understand why you’d fail to consider that tiling WMs might work for other people despite their short comings for you personally. Maybe those people have diffe

Opening statements like the following undo any charitable interpretation that you’re separating the two: > I am not talking about this as a preference, I think they are actually a fundamentally flawed design.

You’re the one who said there are bugs to be fixed. I’m literally just reacting to your own statements. If you think it’s a myth then don’t introduce it as a cornerstone of your own rant to begin with.
