Sometimes you can access standards from a library. Not sure how common that is for ISO but maybe look it up.

Seems like they will need to add aggressive regenerative braking to all of these things not for the power savings but for safety. And somehow integrate a single lever to control both (like many electric cars do)

It sounds simple but one of the biggest frustrations is that kids accidentally click the ads which take you out of the app into something else. And constantly get confused. Hence it also requires the apps not to have external links etc.

They explicitly mentioned in the keynote that they are closing a couple of loopholes used for tracking including browsing for nearby bluetooth and wifi networks instead of actually requesting your location with the location API. You can now

Frankly as a consumer I am happy about this. Even the existing Sign In with Facebook is implemented terribly by many apps, e.g. requiring me to enter my password in app instead of calling out to the Facebook app like maybe 50 of apps suppor

Been following these guys for a while. Fascinating product. To me though the most obvious but sadly simple use for this is sensor lights in damn toilets. Sit on the toilet for more than a few minutes in some places and the damn lights go ou

The London Underground definitely does that. Also in part because it reduces the heat output. The underground has been heatsoaking for decades and it’s hitting problematic temperature levels. This article is a great read: https://

This is a frustratingly common problem, the answer is crappy advertise javascript. I have reported this problem numerous times to various sites such as anandtech, etc. Most commonly for me it only happens on iPhone and redirects to some kin

Someone commented on HN recently about an app that lets you do this.. you install it, remove Safari, and then it get's launched and then launches your browser. Unfortunately I am having trouble finding the name of it now.

I can't speak to that with accuracy (other than the fact that information is from 2012) But it doesn't make sense to me it would be probing for known networks in it's disconnected state.

Though iOS also randomizes and regularly rotates the MAC address used for WiFi probing and only uses your real MAC once you connect. So in disconnected mode, or, if you've never actually connected to that wifi network, you'd think

There's a couple of areas that's not actually true. For example their "insights" package which has rule based detection of problems to fix etc is open source but the actual ruleset is not.

My understanding is that part of the reason this is done, is that you can buy the external PSU module pre-certified for whatever country you need to import the product into. If you integrate the power supply into the inside of the product,

On current Ubuntu releases gdm (login screen) now runs on VT1, which is what you are trying to switch to with Ctrl-Alt-F1. Your current session is likely on VT2 (Ctrl-Alt-F2) You could try Ctrl-Alt-F3, F4, etc to get a login terminal.
