For MacOS, Boxer ( http://boxerapp.com/ ) is great. It creates executables (self contained distributable with zero dependencies) that include dosbox and the app to run - the creation is super easy drag n’drop. Dosbox footpri

I recall buying a magazine that focused on the Win95 launch. The highlight was the ability to play Prince of Persia in the included DOS. Backwards compatibility was effectively a major selling point.

Remarkable article, with notable works entering public domain in 2023, but also giving plenty of context why we are better off to resist abusive copyright trolls.

Had no idea what pinboard was before this thread. The website looks not so great, but reading the service is quite amazing how it nailed such a simple idea so well. Totally understand being a useful service. Too bad there’s so many issues r

I used VS Code beta and it was slow… I remember an issue in the beginning where the cursor was refreshing at 60fps, causing huge delays. The software evolved really well over the years.

VS Code built on top of Atom’s team great work, which was open source (something that Microsoft was still grasping at the time). Not saying VS Code isn’t great, but they definitely learned from past projects mistakes and wins. Atom was one

Best desktop manager ever, it’s so lightweight but provides all the functionality you need, and super customisable too.

Great software, at a amazing price - the new universal license discounted is an incredible value. Super easy to start using and great design + functionality. Just hope Adobe doesn’t end up buying Affinity like it has done with many others.
