This is sad to see. I haven't used PT in over a decade probably, but I used it heavily for 3-4 years before that. As a contrast to other "agile" tools, it was a breath of fresh air. So simple, everything was all on one screen

One of the "tells" for military aircraft flying without ADSB is when you see refueling tankers (KC-135) doing loops for periods of time, and no other military aircraft around. Those tankers are refueling something , they don'

If you look at https://globe.adsbexchange.com , and filter for military/interesting (the U button at the top of the screen), you'll see that at any given time there are a LOT of military flights over the US. Most are tr

Same. I used to enjoy reading his posts, and imagine I got some useful things from them (though I’m unable to recall anything specific). His writing got weirder and weirder over time to the point that none of it was relatable any more.

Chemex needs a much coarser grind. I’d advise trying it - I have a half dozen methods of making coffee and the Chemex is consistently one of the best.

This, but also because Covid is far more easily transmitted than the flu, measures like masks, hand washing, etc were actually highly effective at stopping the spread of the flu.

As the article points out, the problem is that by doing so you create a map for people to find CSAM just by diffing the datasets.

The thing that makes me enjoy them is the attention to detail. He builds entire worlds and controls everything in them (at least once he got past his first few films). I’m the kind of person who enjoys watching a movie more than once and di

I’m surprised none of Wes Anderson’s films are on this list. In my experience his work is incredibly polarizing. People either absolutely love it or can’t stand it. I’m in the love it category but I dig quirky films.

I wonder if the difference here is whether the employer buys laptops outright or leases them. If they lease they surely need to get them back or pay a penalty. If they’ve bought them outright then it’s hard to imagine it would be cost effec

It’s certainly possible there was no cause. I’m just imagining that falling deeply in love with someone and marrying them, only to lose them a short time later could cause one to lose faith in the idea of committing to a single person. I h

As I recall, they married quite young and the womanizing didn’t come until he was older. The optimist in me wants to believe that if Arline had not died, the womanizing wouldn’t have happened. Feynman was a brilliant man but it was clear th

I’m not defending the behavior, just saying that it didn’t detract from the parts of the book that I enjoyed. I did find the inclusion of so many details of his romantic life a bit odd. It’s not that they were graphic or anything, there was

His ego came through a bit in the book, but honestly that's a fairly common trait for young guys. I am also quite aware that the book only presents one side of the story and that Mitnick had quite a different perspective. I'm sure

I really enjoyed the book Takedown, about Shimomura's pursuit of Mitnick - I must have read it three or four times. I always wondered what happened to Shimomura, since he just seemed to drop out of sight after that book came out.

Hot black coffee, no. I suspect they’re referring to coffee-flavored drinks. The kind of thing you see at Starbucks, which are more like milkshakes with a touch of coffee. But even iced coffee is generally drunk through a straw.

I discussed this with a psychologist once who said this is an executive function issue. Something related to working memory, if I recall. Fairly common in those with ADHD, but I’d guess not limited to that.

As I understand it, pager messages are the same way. At least in the US, they’re transmitted unencrypted, and anyone with a $25 SDR dongle and some free software can receive them. But it’s illegal to, say, put them up on a website.
