It is just a symptom of youth and social media addiction. I forget what the stat was in 1999 but it is something absurd. Like 90% of the US was against gay marriage. In 2022, 71% were pro gay marriage. I am gay and when someone says bullshi

I think the sitting part is the bigger variable. It is hard to be happy when your physical condition is a mess. Personally, I never have quite as good of a day as when I start my day with an hour walk. Literally never and I have performed t

Every community having their own currency and monetary policy makes no sense at a fundamental economic level. If each member of my family has their own individual currency and monetary policy it would make economic sense for us to form a hi

It has been a nice experiment to prove our intuition about deflationary currency and hording correct. The other interesting aspect is in terms of Robert Shiller's narrative economics. What is most interesting to me is that the narrativ

It is bullshit to call this pandas AI. I use pandas all the time and could give quite a bit of feedback but not when you are basically trying to conflate and leverage the hard work of another project for yourself. Not a big deal though beca

I would even question how good humans are at deciding who they like working with better. Even more so than war it is like dating and that is exactly why I question the above. Humans can't even tell better than random who is a good marr

The hiring process is basically a stochastic process with time wasting theatrical performances on both sides. I honestly believe at some stage there should just be a random number generator making the selection. Especially if the final sele

I have hated Max/MSP for at least the last 15 years. Designed for 'institutionalized academic music' made me chuckle. Autechre's Confield album is what it is good at doing. There is nothing more to do with the software a

If if someone doesn't agree with this, regulate what exactly? Does scikit-learn count or we are just not going to bother defining what we mean by "AI"? "AI" is whatever congress says it is? That is an absolutely ter

Gauguin is the best example to me. I could never understand why anyone would think his childish looking paintings were so great until I seen some of his masterpieces in person. The amount of colors is just flooring and mind bending.

Picasso was worth $250 million at his death in 1973 dollars. 1.6 billion in 2022 dollars from selling his own paintings. Painters at one point were rock stars. Just like today's rock stars are social media stars and not a group of guys

Ronnie Coleman also can't walk anymore on his own because of those heavy weights. That could certainly apply in this context if talking 20 years down the line.

There is a huge selection bias when talking about something like this. Anthony Bourdain's Kitchen Confidential is one of my fav books but he wrote two books before Kitchen Confidential that were utter failures. I am not sure how succes

The people who think retail is being harmed could not have traded 15 years ago. Anyone who thinks things were better for retail back in the day with at least $5+ per side and some guy in the middle in NY or Chicago making a market on a floo

I have used Cubase for 25 years. A video conferencing app is just not the same category even remotely. This is like trying to build Maya or Blender in a browser without an art background but having to deal with ms latency. I just don't

I have gone to gyms since the early 90s. 30 years ago, so many guys had a bench and cheap weights in their basement that they barely used. Now that group just has a gym membership they barely use. Women had home VHS aerobic workouts they ba

That is simply not true. What you are ascribing to personal gain is just protecting against personal loss. Ordering an extra test or an extra drug is mostly a doctor covering themselves from potential lawsuit.

It is disappointing philosophically but I would imagine how the game theory of this works out strategically if really trying to play an optimal strategy is "always cheat". There just such asymmetry between the risks vs payouts. S
