Because there is a huge difference between 0.1% of the population being addicted and 20%. It’s possible to get dropdown drunk drinking Miller Lite. That doesn’t imply that handing out bottles of everclear is safe social policy.

I am very happy when I see The Innocence Project taking on a case like this because it tells me they have already worked through the backlog of actually innocent people as well as the people who might possibly be innocent, and now have work

Many people would not count time required to sleep and attend to basic human needs like eating and hygiene as part of available time. It sounds like it took 75-100% of a full-time position.

I went to law school after 8 years as a developer. Now I am a plaintiff attorney and sue companies (sometimes tech companies) for fraud. YMMV.
