I have had a low grade curiosity about this since the 1970s, so nice to have it definitively answered (tho I'm a bit sad gum is just plastic now). Next up: coke and Mentos, and swallowing sunflower seeds (although really this article

I always get scared when I accidentally have two shell sessions visible at once in tmux. I immediately exit one. I suppose I should read a bit on it. When I want side to side comparisons I go to the shell running emacs and do it there (pos

You are safe anyways by the "sticks and stones" principal. Worrying about what other people think about you, unless they are your immediate family, is a pretty inefficient use of time.

User viewable docs should be Anglo-Saxon and dev docs should be Latin (or Attic Greek?) Publicity materials should be medieval Arabic, and the secret documentation that isn't shared should be in Mandarin.

It is a very convenient way to move higher latency operations from the realtime path to a near real time path. E.g. you want to send an email when a payment is authorized, you don’t want to wait for the whole SMTP transaction so you just po

That is such a sweet feeling - doing what you feel is good test suite (maybe not TDD perfectionistic 100%but good) then few months later you add a new feature and the tests find some subtle bug that would have affected production.
