I wouldn't normally do this but it seems appropriate in this context: nitpicking

> must claim fiduciary duty to shareholders This isn't true, and I can't tell if this view has been promulgated by decision makers who want to hide behind it or the shareholders to whom the mythical duty is owed. Probably both

You can do it with a checkbox. Here's a quick-and-dirty example: https://codepen.io/anon/pen/BOZdaZ

What do you suppose would happen if we all visited these URLs from every public access point we use? (edit: and shared VPNs, Tor, corporate networks, etc.)

> Doesn't this also assume a computer similar to our own? No. It is about abstract computation, which is based on (our best understanding of) theoretical physics.

To be pedantically correct: crypto_box and AES aren't mutually exclusive, and in fact AES is listed in crypto_box's "Alternate primitives".

Or even better: a thief replaces the padlock with one of his own, then later steals the ring. What you really need is a trusted "padlock authority" that can verify the authenticity of your padlocks...

Ah right. It is patented, but the most common application of SRP can be used for free.

SRP is an "Augmented PAKE" which does not require the server to ever see the plaintext password. I'm not aware of any others that are claimed to be patent-free.

> To me it feels Kotlin paid 80% of the cost of features, but got only 20% worth of features. That sounds very good. Scala overdid it.

Don't worry, I'm not shooting for anything like perfection. I released another library that this builds on just last week: https://github.com/lann/builder

Primarily because you can reuse partial queries and add conditional where clauses more easily. There are other features I haven't shown here as well, like building an IN expression with placeholders from a slice.

I would add to that: use a self-signed cert for the SSL. If you rely on the OS's PKI its relatively easy for an attacker to add their own CA and read the connection.

One issue with this is that some sites need to allow iframes from a whitelist of other sites (e.g. facebook apps). I'm working on a solution right now with the Referer header (which points to the container site on initial iframe load).
