Mirrors were my first thought as well, though in a slightly different way; you could have the mirror track the scene instead, counteracting head movement during a single frame's persistence and then snapping back between frames to cont

I've been meaning to cross out the "synchronized" there. It's unnecessary since Queues are already threadsafe.

Even better: it is possible for N players to fairly (safe from N-1 collusion) shuffle a deck with no central authority. The magic Google words are "mental poker". As you guessed, it involves homomorphic (or at least commutative) crypto.

(I'm a coworker of the OP) We discussed using MySQL partitions but decided we would rather avoid them if possible. That may have been in part an over-reaction to the pain of dealing with our application-level partitioning, but it was also i

(another Causes engineer here) HASH partitioning could make sense if our queries were primarily filtering on e.g. user_id, but that isn't the case here. Instead we are often querying against one or both of two columns: user_id and action_id

I started this during the latest <plug>Hack-a-thon at Causes (causes.com/join_us),</plug> and now it's beta enough to open source. Unlike some other existing solutions, this one behaves like an XMPP MUC (group chat), and doe

I came here expecting to see this suggestion: add the branch name to your commit message with a hook. Is this really not a common practice?

Also you technically leak a little information by not padding your plaintext to a larger block size, but its not really an issue in this particular example.

Yes, as long as the random characters are really random. This seems trivial but is actually quite difficult to get right.

Even better: stop storing photo ids as numbers entirely. From Flickr's API docs: "These IDs should always be treated as opaque strings, rather than integers of any specific type." http://www.flickr.com/services/api/misc.overview.html

In case this isn't obvious: expect whatever protection you employ to be cracked if your product is ever successful (and maybe even if it isn't).

You can scp from a remote host to the host you're currently logged into (assuming no firewall restrictions). You could even simulate the put command with a sufficiently clever shell script by using the value of SSH_CLIENT or _CONNECTION. To

That distance is nothing for a point-to-point wifi link. Buy (or build) yourself a cheap directional antenna for both ends and you should get a solid link with line of sight.

(I assume) this has to do with "hacker" getting blocked by some overly zealous web filters.

"I need some way to know how hard the engineers are working." Why? And what does "hard" even mean? (working more hours?) The goal is good results, not hard workers. "...clear correlation between hours worked and results produced." Working z
