I wrote this one: https://app.qvault.io/course/6321ddbf-49eb-4748-9737-6bc12e8... it's a crypto course where you write the solutions in Go. you might enjoy it :)

I agree there are so many issues with coding education, (full disclosure, that's why I'm building Qvault.io) but I don't think the big problems are the ones presented here. I see the following as the biggest unsolved problems

College simply isn't the most effective way to be learning these days. Especially for undergraduate degrees, places like Kahn Academy, Qvault.io (mine) and FreeCodeCamp are working really well

It says a lot that most of this is counter inspired by Ruby

I've been working an an alternative to codeacademy, particularly one focused on closing skills gaps before job placement, and on building a tighter knit community. from a business perspective, this is great news for me I think xD

Bitcoin has only been around for 12 years, and went from 0 to 69k dollars. How has it been in a recession for the last 12 years?

I built a little golang playground using web workers and WASM. It's nice to not hang the UI thread. https://app.qvault.io/playground/go

not a great metaphor imo. gives the impression masks and distance do nothing, and we know they do

This is exactly why I started building https://qvault.io over a year ago. Boot camps are full of shit, they aren't teaching all they need to. We need an alternative to college that isn't expensive and based on exaggera

I've been talking about this for a minute. Boot camps are pushing the "you can make tons of money in just 4 weeks" narrative. CS skills are ironically becoming a huge differentiator. that's why I've been indiehackin

They do an okay job for video courses, but videos are just so dull for coding. That's why I built https://qvault.io maybe someday ill have time to make it an interactive course marketplace

awesome! I made one just like it about a year ago: https://app.qvault.io/playground/go it actually powers some of the courses in go that I've written as well

OSSU does a great job. I recently started building a CS curriculum with a focus on giving students a single interactive place to get all the material. You can check it out here if interested: https://GitHub.com/Qvault/c

Welp, it seems like this was a good year to create a CS education platform. I've always been disatisfied with boot camps, I feel that for most people online learning is a better route. You can see what I'm building on https:/

Take a course or two in cryptography if you haven't already. Once you understand the basics, move on to the application level and learn about best practices. Afaik the best way is via courses, a lot of online reading, and even better,

Oh dang, I might need to rename the course I published a few months ago... https://qvault.io/practical-cryptography-course/ At first glance, looks like a solid book. I'll be going through it in more detail later.

None taken - but it really is. You could argue that my "direct" competitors are the people making courses on those platforms, but decisions coursera makes affects their courses directly.
