Ah well that put a positive note on my morning coffee. I didn't know that. But still wouldn't it be valuable to the bidders for Amazon to fix this? Or shouldn't Amazon value better targeting because relevant ads convince user

Very true. Oh you just spent $400 on a top of the line product that'll last a decade? Here, check out these $100 bottom of the barrel alternatives that'll surely break in a month. I get that Amazon is doing auction advertising bu

Absolutely not. I'm really amazed by how bad Amazon is sometimes. I buy cat food once for a friend - eternally and constantly get recommendations for more cat stuff. I buy coffee filters every 6 months - I get "buy it again"

I asked coworkers (techies in the US) what they thought about this and surveillance over wechat etc, and they shrugged and said "I didnt know, but sounds like itll stop crime, thats good. Doesnt the US do stuff like this too?"

I see this same thing happening at some corporations now trying to create blockchain as a service. If one corporation, or just a few, are the only ones participating in the chain then why not just use traditional DBs?..

You're right but some statistics analysis on the gameplay by players would do a lot more to reveal bots than analyzing usernames, especially once the bots start using random diceware names

It's not about false positives, it's about the half ass solution. The name is just gonna change and it'll be an impossible cat and mouse game

The interesting thing is that this "legitimate signature" will just change. Maybe to another basic name, maybe a random string, maybe diceware. No one is trolled.

Nowhere in the article do they mention revenue from advertising so you appear to be grasping for a reason to hate on people who use adblockers. Your posting history generally looks the same. I donate to the news outlets and other resources

Ah sorry I didn't realize it was that easy. I thought because my account is still young and low on points I couldn't flag yet.

Does anyone know what they do share besides phone number? And what could they share? I know end to end message encryption is a thing, but can the app still supply your messages or analysis of them to FB?

It's not like they _had_ to use cloudflare. Interesting situation though, kind of like the current cake debacle hitting the supreme court.

Please dont let "support" become "influence". The web needs less influence from Comcast and ISPs. Your business practices are cancer of the internet.

Ha yeah that's been my experience at a smaller scale so far. Why are "arrays" actually key value sets? Not at all intuitive. I figured that out when I used array_unique() only to discover that some index values had gone missi

For sure, it's just the little language gotchas that I'm trying to understand before really leaping in to anything. For example I didn't realize an array in PHP is actually a key/val set until it bit me on some easy chal

It wasn't that they were too easy, too easy is fine. I'm doing this to understand where the good docs are, what error messages read like, and what the common mistakes and gotchas of the language will be. It's just like no one

Good call on at least reviewing fixes on github. I was going for the game sites because I just want to get the trivial gotchas of the language out of the way, get a feel for what error messages look like on some basic stuff.

I wholeheartedly agree with all of that except GIMP. The UI in GIMP is horrendous and the only reason it's successful IMO is because the gap it fills is that of an expensive and confusing product that is niche to a lot of people who ne
