I thought this was a pretty good thread (by an ex-Wikipedia lawyer) on Twitter about the IP meaning of Copilot. https://twitter.com/luis_in_brief/status/1410242882523459585... And this is a longer article about ho

Serious Eats is a great source. Their writing on how to cook a steak in a cast iron pan is excellent, a really useful and interesting read for anyone who likes cooking steaks in cast iron pans. https://www.seriouseats.com/th

Go is like a superior version of Java. Rust is like a superior version of C++. I wouldn't use Java or C++ any more for a new project, barring some very specific reason. But I might use either Go or Rust depending on the project's

It's pretty interesting that they caught Capcom using the same name for game files as in the source material, based on files released in the Capcom data breach from last year.

How does conda handle this problem? To me as an end user conda installation for things that use the GPU seems to work a lot better, and the only real downside is that it combines awkwardly with packages that are installed using pip.

how can anyone be ok with that? I don't want to mine cryptocurrency on my graphics card. So given the choice of buying an unrestricted one off ebay for $2500, or a restricted one for the originally suggested price of $800, I would ra

They aren't really "selling" the unlocked RTX 3080, though. They go for $2500 on ebay, and you're essentially winning a lottery if you manage to get one at the advertised $800 price. In practice acquiring a restricted RT

That complaint doesn't quite make sense to me because things like "language servers for every programming language in existence" don't exist for iOS in the first place, even if you were allowed to run external processes.

Adobe had an intense outcry when they moved to a subscription model, and it worked out great for them. You are basically changing your customer base. People who would happily spend $20/month for a good code editor will love the change

The problem is that many people, even in developer circles like here on HN, are still very negative when it comes to subscriptions. It's always going to be that way, and that's okay. It's still the right move for profession
