Ask codegolf.stackexchange.com, there's probably a Mathematica one-liner to display a globe with colour-coded areas.

I wonder if OP has filed this as an issue anywhere - a quick search for "DESKTOP_STARTUP_ID nix" [1][2] did not come up with anything. I'd be happy to file an issue, but I don't understand the details much from reading t

Let's see if I get this right: (0. Install uBlock Origin) 1. Re-enable web fonts 2. In the main UO settings, check "Block remote fonts"? 3. Refresh a page 4. Click the UO icon, and then "more" until I see an icon ti

I guess it's a good thing the web is built for users rather than designers, then, isn't it? Oh wait. On a more serious note, screw all the font **ery. Settings → Language and Appearance → Advanced → untick Allow pages to choose

Having contributed for many years now, IME there's probably less drama on SO (on average) than on HN. Sure, some people get disproportionately defensive when other people demand more information to solve their problem, or when people

By now I'm semi-convinced ISPs are deliberately holding back IPv6 in order to make a buck selling static IPs. They charge a good chunk of money per month for an IPv4 address (at least in Switzerland, the UK, and New Zealand), which is

Is there an equivalent to the Acid2 CSS browser test[1] for terminal Unicode compliance? It would be great to move forward to a place where good Unicode support is table stakes for new as well as old terminals. [1] https://en.wik

Just because "clean" connects to a lot of concepts doesn't mean "clean" code is meaningless, any more than clean dishes. A plate smeared with tar is not clean, no matter if the tar is sterile, and a plate which has

If you don't understand why it failed, you might do more damage with your repair, or you might have to replace it again in a week, rather than five years. As for being "obvious", I don't understand that sentiment. A brok

It would be interesting to see some actual calculations around this. It would have to take into account, for example, that we can do (some arbitrarily huge number) more calculations with N grams of rare materials than we could back in the d

It's a trend I've noticed with other services, notably Drive and Calendar - they no longer innovate, just get a UI tweak every few years. It's very reminiscent of cash cows, which typically are resourced to just keep going at

The solution really is simple: `preferred_name TEXT NOT NULL` If it must match your given name, feel free to add `legal_name TEXT NOT NULL`, at the cost of some really awkward form filling for your users.
