I'm reminded of the cognitive ease part of Thinking, Fast and Slow. The theory is supposedly we pay more attention to what we are reading if it's a bit hard to read. Was there any such idea behind lowering the contrast for these?

I think it would be good to change. IMO I have learned that downvoted comments are gray, so unconsciously I associate gray comments with suspicion.

Is there any intution for why BBB (beeping busy beavers) can run for much longer (before quasihalting?) One thing I see is that they effectively don't need to use a halt state. So maybe a 3-state BBB is sort of similar to a 4-state BB

I sometimes contribute. There's a lot to be done on the Python side, because Python and libraries change faster than the answers do. "In theory" - I think at least - answers should be updated when new things become possible.

It's a lot better if the user-agent is extensible. For one thing, so that users can customize it. But also so that it will not be summarily blocked by websites and networks.

Creating doesn't mean having to maxmize entropy either. Lots of good stories keep very close to the "obivous" or the well-known.

That sounds pretty bad, a cloud service needs to see all notifications?

If you enable private chat, you don't get notifications for new messages, that way the feature is self defeating, it seems to me at least. (Something could also have gone wrong?)

I'll defend the waiting people: If I don't know the city or country that well, then I'm more careful.

Fun that you're showing your own work. Since this is your work, it could have Show HN in the title; I guess.

I've got a metal case for the pi 4 (which touches the cpu, like a heat sink) and I hope I can do the same for the pi 5 sooner or later.

Surely, who "owns a face" is not governed by copyright law because a face is not an intentionally created work of art, or anything similar?

I used the original flattr and apparently missed the reboot too. Flattr 1 was dead for too long to carry me over anyway.

Visualisation and imagining the future are still pretty important I think, we just don't realize it. I think it dictates a bit how you work and what roles you are suited for(!). Let's say, are you better at working things out in p

I was thinking the same thing. One item I thought about was "H/3 Adoption Grows Rapidly" is paired with a graph that shows that adoption is absolutely flat over the last year.

I guess it's time to learn to use some real swedish words then and not the foreign ones. Bye idé, hello hugskott. (Hug/håg = mind, skott = shot)

They are there on mac too, use option-Ä to get the Æ or the other way around. What's more, it has worked like that since system 7.x times or so, it's just a good idea.

é is used commonly in names and some words that don't feel foreign. For example the word for idea is written idé . Seems like it's an old loan from greek.

It should be a good time for Firefox, because now it's clear that Firefox plus ublock origin can block more ads than google ever allows Chrome to do (they don't allow it anymore). That's a tangible benefit you can tell your f
