That sounds like a nice plan as well! I have never heard of anything like this in the US.

Thanks for the reply - I was just curious because currently (first job post graduation) nothing like that is offered where I work and I would take advantage of it if I got the chance.

I'd be interested to see where my current company is at in five years. The growth has been pretty impressive - but I'm wondering which employees will still be around (if they take care of their employees enough to keep them aroun

Yeah I just worry that being tied to C#/.NET that I'll be stuck with the same sort of job (and the knowledge won't transfer to other stacks)

(Having only been at one place thus far my opinion may be different) I've yet to come across someone who has been "happy" with their benefits package. I don't even take advantage of mine because it's such a large c

What would you consider a good developer? (technical skill vs adding business value) I'm constantly curious about what other people are working on, or if they are re-writing the same CRUD app over and over.

Not to get off topic - but what is your opinion of Salesforce? We are just working on an integration/implementation with one of our systems, and it's quite a drag uninteresting. I don't quite understand the hype behind it, a

I've never used Grafana chart before - it looks ~really~ nice. I've been trying to think of a good mini-project to start learning Go with as well. Maybe Grafana is a good starting point...

What sort of mini-projects have you done thus far? That's the biggest hurdle I've been trying to overcome currently with learning Go (or any new language). Other than re-writing small problems, but that isn't terribly exciti

Picking a mini-project (without completely re-inventing the wheel) was the harder part for me - I did start out with tour.golang.org, and just reading their docs too. I'll still checkout https://gobyexample.com/ - than

So - functional languages are what you are referring to then? My goal was/is to find something to work on in my spare time using a new language. Just to keep learning as well as broaden my horizons :)

I'm still a "recent" grad, so my answer might be a bit strange. I've been doing full time C# for almost 2 years now, and while I enjoy it one of my biggest fears is getting stuck into only knowing one technology/sta

This comment resonates with me. After leaving university, and moving on to a full time position in a suburb I feel completely disconnected. I didn't attend a ~huge~ school, but the sense of community was there. The lack of this feeli

It ties chats to Github repos/issues. I've never had any luck with clicking on one. IRC is much more useful in my opinion. I suppose they could make it work in some fashion, but opening an issue should suffice...
