Great description of CBT. For anyone who's not ready or can't afford to go to a CBT specialist, check out MoodGym - http://moodgym.anu.edu.au/welcome .

Can you elaborate on your experience with Udacity? I've taken the Codecademy javascript course, and while I came out of it with the absolute basic fundamentals, enough to where I could play around with the language myself, I wish they'd gon

If your entire business is based on searching another company's already searchable set of data by using the apparently ingenious method of prepending a "$" to search terms, and you've raised $8.6 million knowing full well that at any time s

I'll take this opportunity to kindly request that someone build an alternative to gTalk and Skype for video chatting. The forums for both are filled with complaints that do not ever get answered. Both products are huge resource hogs – gTalk

I think where you and I differ is that I don't believe that people who use Craigslist are under the impression that their data will be indexed/used elsewhere; I know I've never assumed that, and I'm willing to bet the same goes for the ever

This is a pretty black-and-white issue for me, and I don't quite understand how so many are defending Padmapper. Much like the arguments for pirating music, it all boils down to weak justifications for taking something that's not yours. I g

I suppose it could handle some tasks that apply universally to one type of email message from a given source, but not for most that involve highly personalized/sensitive information – bank statements, scheduling appointments, etc.

First thing I thought of when I read the heading Actionsteps was being able to tailor actions specific to each email. For instance, you receive an email from Twitter saying someone's following you, and you're given the options to either "fo

I think that works in theory, but you have to look at what will draw users to care about applications. If the network effects aren't there, there's no reason why a user would be drawn to using a given application if the underlying service j

I can't help but feel that you're severely underestimating the network effects and momentum needed to make a service like this useful to someone. If Twitter had a price barrier, I doubt they'd have 5% of the user base that they do now. I ge

Very well designed app, so congrats to them. My only gripe and what's prevented me from using it as my main email app on my phone has been the lack of push notifications. I'm really, really hoping they implement that in an upcoming release.

I don't think the author actually said self-affirmations will lead you to success. If anything, they'll help improve your self-image and confidence, and put you in a better position to seek out opportunities. Your convertible analogy doesn'

I think it'd be appropriate here to mention Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Its purpose is to attempt to change the way we view ourselves by learning how to properly interpret events. The "you're a failure" bit really hits hard with me as it'

Ah, so like Dribbble. No doubt there are more than 20 awesome designers out there, but from a client's point of view, I would think the zero-sum nature of a top X list would do a bit more to ensure that the designers are worth their weight.

This is a critique I had with the other HN redesign: I don't think making a submission's point score front and center is a good idea. You're making it important, even more so than the actual story is by placing it on the same line to the le
