Both my parents and my grandmother use iPhones now and I do notice the limited functionality they are comfortable with but I believe the problem goes beyond the iPhone and into general tech literacy. I taught my dad to use 1Password then no

When it comes to pension funds, investing in anything volatile like hedge funds is an incredibly irresponsible thing to do. I’m kind of flabbergasted it’s even allowed in the first place. Pension funds should have steady, modest gains year

Maybe violating the eBay terms of use? They are pretty explicit about not trying to lure people to buy from you outside of eBay, iirc. What happens when a corporates violates another companies terms of use aggressively to promote competitio

Yes, very odd. I suppose it’s an attempt to suggest the employer made a mistake passing on them, but the act of calling out itself demonstrates they might have made a good call.

There are definitely services that just do a basic stitching so that it reads like a giant paragraph but it would be neat to see it truely translate from a tweet thread to a blog format beyond just a basic concatenation

If I consumed that much per day on average I’d have major bandwidth overage charges at the end of the month. (In Canada, at least, where caps are often ~200-300GB)

Sometimes I write a blog then sit on it for ages and never actually publish it because writing a blog is such a grand ordeal. If this format helps people ‘just get it done’ then I’m for it.

No kidding. That was my next thought among other issues with the plan, but I'm trying not to be too cynical about what will happen to the data. I won't be using this any time soon, personally.

Without looking into the Privacy Policy for details on tracking, it seems like this would be a lesser of two evils situation. Either experience censorship in your country or see everything, with the caveat that Google logs it.

Agree with this comment. If you’ve watched the community work at this language it’s been a very clear and well documented process. I’ve learned a lot just by watching Swift evolve through proposals.

I’d assume it should have less bias on any given case and we’d hope cases like this would be flagged by that system somehow. However, completely unbiased machine learning seems like something as hard to achieve as being completely unbiased

With words like ‘cryptochromes’ and ‘magnetoreception’, I’m sure it’s going to have some misunderstood appeal.

He probably spends so much time looking at negative press on him that his own search results are skewed as such. I.e. for a guy who constantly says all these companies like CNN and NYtimes are failing and fake news he seems to always up to

If you don’t want a clock puncher then why qualify in hours at all? Autonomy in work matters so if the end product is good then how long it took shouldn’t matter. What qualifies as working hours is hard to define too. Every night I go home

I can’t quite get over this critiquing of Twitter’s Retweet system. I totally understand how it’s misused but all the benefits are overlooked too. I love retweeting with commentary for positive reasons. I find they are a great way to valida

Checked this app out of curiosity. It’s decent but doesn’t feel native to me. Each platform has its own nuanced differences that we might think is okay to ignore but customers see through when the experience isn’t consistent with past expec

This makes me think a lot about my own challenges with building things and whether or not to take an open source approach. In principle I want to be the ‘good guy’ open sourcer, but I don’t want to go bankrupt either. Thanks for the food fo
