As a former AAA dev, this is spot on. At the end of the day, games are a business. Margins are not attractive and competition is fierce as the barrier to game development has lowered with Steam: both are downward pressures on wages. After e

They're not easily comparable since quantum complexity refers to the upper bound on queries to some black-box "quantum oracle", which exists on the gate-level. A classical parallel would perhaps be queries to a translation lo

Possibly of interest, but I wrote a (hopefully approachable) report on quantum perceptrons a few years back [1]. Perhaps it's found elsewhere, but I was surprised by how, at least in this quantum algo's case, the basis of trainin

The bar for entry is surprisingly low, you just need to brush up on intro abstract algebra. I recommend the following: 1. Kaye, LaFlamme, and Mosca - An Introduction to Quantum Computing 2. Nielsen and Chuang - Quantum Computation and Quant

As a Tupac fan and lover of print news, I think this article encapsulates what's wrong with modern media: the selective use of context to engender a political stance, from which outage is engendered The problem isn't social media

I would be inclined to agree, but I'm reminded of passages from Edwin Black's book [1] depicting the capriciousness of medical providers. E.g. a board of doctors was typically responsible for sterilization decisions in America whe

I like this. That said, I doubt we'll ever escape towards subscription-based social media models due to the prohibitive costs of CDNs, bandwidth, and storage for video/images. But I suppose it's a question of ends: do we want

Even more interestingly, Anthropic isn't traditionally structured: it's a Long-Term Benefit Trust [1]. That's not say shares can't be sold, but, rather, shareholders have very little governance rights. Debatable whether

I'd agree. I'd say adversaries are unlikely to steal data now, wait a decade or two, and then decrypt on a quantum computer for _most_ private company ip. It's only relevant to government at this stage, yet Congress is, unsur

As the child of blue-collar parents, I'd agree that there's a lot of price anxiety in their neck of the woods. I'd also add that the statistics can be misleading: of the jobs added, many are in food services and front-line he

I'd suggest changing the headline to the original, more sensationalized one. It certainly went against my initial impression that an Amazonian brought Amazon culture to a startup, and got booted for it. In this regard, I'd imagine

I'd echo this. I'd also add (perhaps prematurely as a gen-z) that I see a lot less playfulness when it comes to side-projects. Rather, it seems projects start with monetary or career motives. Nothing wrong with this, but I'd

As I understand it, the raison d'être of nostr is to use relays to store your data, which is presented on clients. So if a front-end bans you, then you can grab your data off any relay. If imgur shuts down, you're out of luck! Blu

I agree and would ask: is linting that much of a bottleneck to development? Having an automated lint run upon opening a PR seems like a minor expense, especially when you can work on other tickets while you wait.
