If I understand correctly, you're saying that AAA game companies are at fault for producing video games that influence people through addictive psychological tricks to the point of ruining their lives. I completely agree that some meth

I think any game is addictive. Having "gambling mechanics" certainly doesn't make it any better, but that's like saying alcohol causes a drinking problem. Yet many people that drink occasionally are not alcoholics.

Your comment is a bit ambiguous. Are you saying that even retail software could be considered a virus just because of what it can do on the system? Or was virus software making it onto the machine in other ways?

I'm building a simple blog/project site just using Hugo. It's quite easy to get started, and is a single binary you can use to test and deploy the site with no dependencies. I like that I'm able to design everything from

It's really not too bad to setup, I promise! Windows is a pain right now, but Linux is pretty decent. I'm in the process of writing up a guide for setup on Windows for the Wiki, and will also do one for OSX, and a generic one for

If anyone is looking for a decent self streaming system, Ampache[1] is a great option. Stream all of your music for free, and has the option for a Subsonic backend making it compatible with lots of clients. [1] http://ampache.org

The companies that were responsible for the data in the first place are ones to blame for breaking "the anonymity on internet". Anything that anyone does after the fact is moot.

As topranks mentioned, all this data is already available and anyone could download it. However, in most leaks, you can't just use the information as the passwords are (hopefully) hashed/salted. That said, it is trivial to crack m

That could always be an issue. Though I try to make sure I have the minimum number of ports, and services running. But there is a possibility that something I have is exploitable still.

I've made it a point to start self hosting anything that's particularly sensitive that I don't want third parties to have access to. KeePass and SyncThing probably have my most important information, and it's all owned b

If you care about your weight relative to others, then it has to be accurate, no? Because how would you compare your weight unless you had a bunch of people using your scale.

I wouldn't even really say that PowerShell supports any Unix commands, they are just aliases. It breaks down pretty quick if you were to try to use any parameters. They can still be useful, but just mostly while navigating in a command

I actually generally stay away from using aliases, since I like the verb-noun format and keeps it consistent with all the other commands. But if you are ever curious, you can use Get-Verb[1] which will tell you what is going on. [1] https:

I'm pretty sure all the unifi APs support a wireless uplink. They also have "mesh APs". But they do still need the PoE injector if you don't have a PoE switch.
