I can see how it _technically_ turned into one when they started collecting data. But yeah the PR is strong w/ this one.

I think throwaway40602 from the previous discussion had it right - there's a variable that clients can't normally set (dota_use_particle_fow) that allows seeing some particles/spells and allows guessing where the enemies are

> one of the most plain and boring consumer users of PayPal ever Yeah it seems kindof arbitrary. I've abused my account doing weird stuff for years and it's still fine.

Well they collected data for "the last few weeks" and banned them all at once. Total unique player count would be more accurate to calculate the %

Ah, yeah sounds plausible then. I somehow don't buy the guard page/hw breakpoint explanations. This also lines up with "[information] that wasn't visible during normal gameplay".

Hmm, well I wouldn't permaban people for using a known... built in setting, even if it gives an unfair advantage. _edit_ To whoever downvoted me later - I would consider it a bug if it was user settable without cheats. Similarly you co

Imagine if google's app store ended up with a similar system to yt's content ID - fingerprinting binaries to check if they comply with licensing lol

Used the exact same trick when researching dumb ways to break AV signatures at uni :) You can also abuse the displacement math with eiz: ff 34 24 push DWORD PTR [esp] ff 34 e4 push DWORD PTR [esp+eiz*8] Or some useless prefixes

I doubt it's intentional. Less popular software often gets punished by AVs. Likely some malware samples that used the language (or included some tool/library written in it) got used to make a signature/heuristic automatically

Picked up zig a few days ago - similar experience. The build system and c-interop is amazing, targeting any arch/os from such a small toolchain makes me never want to use makefiles or even cmake again. The language itself definitely ha

Marginally related (software?) rant: every time I want to learn how something specific works or I want to do something oddly specific I keep running in the same phenomenon. Google mostly returns vague abstract fluff and Stack Overflow tells

Was passing trough Transfagarian when a downhill bicycle race was happening. Some police officers were revving their motorbikes and throwing rocks at a bear to keep it away from the contestants. Lots of bear cubs along the way too. Everyone

And that's when I learned some real world IPs overlapped w/ Hamachi's and random sites/services stopped working! Wtf! Took me forever to figure it out.

What I don't get is why you'd want a signed int for an id.

Capturing DNS requests is a low effort way to list all the sites you visit. Using TCP destination IPs is harder to tie to a particular website as there is shared hosting and CDN proxy-ing among other things.

Heap Exploitation courses on Udemy by Max Kamper. Had no problems with stack overflows or other concepts but had a hard time reasoning about the heap. https://www.udemy.com/course/linux-heap-exploitation-part-1/

It was also possible to bypass the "give us your phone" nag screen by messing with the url after login. I've been doing it for years now. I think they "fixed" it sometime this year and I had to give them my number :

No worries, HN has a way of making me jump on the band wagon of criticizing things. Figured that's probably the case shortly after posting the comment. Best of luck w/ the project, looks awesome from the videos :)

Yep, one of my favorite places to grab a coffee on the go changed their lids from plastic to something that resembles egg carton (pulp?). By the time a third of the coffee is gone the lid turns into a soggy mush. It doesn't fall apart.
