This is where I try to buy most of my electronic equipment now. The shipping is quite fast to my location (faster than Amazon Prime) and the prices are usually pretty competitive.

i would not say it's "exactly HN". lobste.rs articles are much more programming focused. majority of posts you find on HN you would not find on lobste.rs which is fine, if that's what you want, but, as a daily reader of

I enjoy that most instances are small and will remain that way. There are a few that may grow to the point where scaling could become difficult, but there are ways to combat that. What the author sees as problems with mastodon (decentraliza

I went Kubuntu, even on my gaming PC, decided to cut my losses as far as any games that don't work, and it has been worth it. I'll never return to Windows. Proton + Steam + Heroic has made so many games easily playable and install

Yeah the fact that the large transfer to Tides happened at the same time that the Tides CEO became General Counsel for Wikimedia seems pretty gross (and I say this as someone that in general would agree with Tides' mission otherwise) T

This is one of those things where I think there are 2 or 3 layers of math concepts above the concept of isogeny that I have to understand before I can understand isogenies. I tried following a trail upwards from isogeny and most of the re

Nah, enterprise servers often can idle 200W+ easily. I know from experience. Current Dells pull that much without even an OS installed, just sitting idle at a boot screen.

At least cosmetics do not affect the gameplay or fairness in any way. I think that's an important distinction to make. In Diablo Immortal you're paying for actual gear or items that help enhance that gear. I have no problem with p

I agree with the Internet Archive on philosophical/ideological grounds and support their actions overall... _However_, they have to operate under the same BS everyone else does, so it seems naïve for them to take reckless actions that

Yes! I think two things with code examples have a significant impact, at least for me personally- 1) the examples are complete and work and 2) line-by-line explanation. A lot of resources show a snippet of code, followed by an impenetra
