I can see both sides of this argument and I'm not sure I fall squarely on one of them. I've been on both ends of this. While I have been on vacations and taken a lot of photos I enjoy while on them, there is something to be said f

Zdziarski seems to think it is quite dangerous. Thoughts? http://www.zdziarski.com/blog/?p=6046 I see the limitation clause and so forth, but some of the language still seems pretty broad and dangerous. In fact the way

Sublime's performance keeps it #1 for me. Not just for large files, but in general use (opening files, navigating, etc) it seems much faster. Plus I prefer the way it handles multiple files being opened at once (tabs at the top) and so

Even knowing better now, it's still tempting. In most cases, throwing it in a isolated linux system should be okay. Of course, unless it's one of those USB-Killer devices that pushes voltage back... Curiosity is fun and dangerous

As an Apple fan (but not a loyalist), I tend to agree. Over time, the lust for their products is starting to wane... The lack of GPU power for the price is ludicrous. I love the OS and the design of the hardware, but it's such a trade

I think the mentality that downvote = disagreement is widespread on any site with a karma/voting mechanism. Many subreddits themselves say right in the sidebar (and often elsewhere) that "downvote only if something is off-topic or

I agree, the headline is a big exaggeration. Not having all the features of f.lux does not constitute a "bust". I'd be curious how many people actually use the super low settings (1200K) anyway as at some point, things get so

Yeah and it doesn't seem that knowing about them makes any difference. I actively know that Diablo and other similar games are doing this and yet I find that I like it. The games do lose replay value over time a bit (I'm worn out

As a desktop user, that is a way better experience too, but because AMP seems to be mostly mobile-focused, we desktop users get the "normal" experience typically. If the site was built from the beginning with performance in mind,

If your view is that web developers working for publishers are "toddlers" in their industry, then I suppose this comparison is apt. I guess the only oversight I see in my original post is that most of the time, the webdevs aren&#x

I was in a similar situation years back and made a huge mistake: giving up and switching majors due to the amount of math in CS (and the very poor instruction I was receiving was part of it too, so YMMV). Now, 8+ years later, I wish I had s

Is there a reason you can't just build the site properly in the first place to load fast? AMP is an unnecessary step in doing so. It's nothing special. All AMP is, is a decided-upon set of restrictions for what you can do on a pag

Yes, but I should be the one to choose, not Opera. They already have ad blocking turned off by default why make people turn it on twice (switch on, then remove site from whitelist) and why decide FOR me which sites I'm supporting by

On a brand new install, there are a bunch of whitelisted sites (news and otherwise) I had to remove manually. I'm curious why they are allowing ads on places like NYTimes by default?

I understand that ads going away means loss of jobs in industries supported by advertising. It means sites may no longer have ways of supporting themselves easily. If lost jobs and less web content is the cost of having no advertising, it&#

That's true. I don't see how any game could make any significant money from this. They would make slightly more being a "bundled" game with the console, but even then, the market for this console itself is incredibly sma
