It is a good book. Check out "Selfish Reason To Have More Kids" by Bryan Caplan (economist at George Mason U). He goes through all the research supporting the idea that you shouldn't worry about parenting too much. The biggest predictor of

Sure, I'm biased because I moved here from NYC, but also check out Nashville. You can live like a Columbian drug lord on NYC (or California) freelance rates.

I completely agree with you. But are they really selling enough Kindle Fires to make up for the potential purchases from the Android legion?

I'll be the first to ask: Why not on Android? What does this strategy get them? Are they afraid of cannibalizing Fire sales? It would seem to me that this would be a short-sighted concern, given the number of Android owners out there that w

How did this get on the front page? - The headline is sensational (goes from "Django doesn't support NoSQL" to "Django is falling behind"). - Author says Django "claimed to be SQL-agnostic" then goes on to conclude that it isn't because it

I want to second this. The benefits of riding are not quite as apparent if your are seriously injured or dead. Ride safely. Leave the headphones in your pocket and pull them out when you're safely at your desk hacking some code.

Why didn't you just buy a big ol' honking external monitor and hook that up to your Macbook? I develop on a Macbook Air, and that works quite well for me.

Probably a good thing since it makes you think twice about submitting your plain-text password to an unknown entity.

Yes, the phone hardware looks pretty nice. However, I bought a Samsung Galaxy S (Vibrant) and was subsequently underwhelmed with their lack of ongoing support for the phone itself. I will not be purchasing another phone from Samsung unless

I agree with you. I have been an Ubuntu user since 6.06, and 11.10 was the buggiest release yet, by far. I actually bought a Mac on Friday. I need a development environment that works. I don't like spending time yak-shaving when I could be

I'm glad to hear it's better than the SGS1 model (especially GPS). However, having been burnt once (I own the SGS1), I'm certainly not going to let it happen again. My next phone will not be a Samsung handset.

It's a short-term gain. As a Galaxy S1 owner, I've been burnt by the "nice hardware, no ongoing software support" issue and I probably will not invest any of my hard-earned money in Samsung products in the future. As a tech-influencer of fr

As a Samsung Galaxy S (Vibrant) buyer there I no way I would touch this phone. Samsung took nearly a year to go from 2.1 to 2.2, and seeing 2.3.4 on the original S line is highly unlikely. I think Samsung makes some great hardware (I'm typi

Maybe I missed it, but why exactly would you use this over the Dropbox .deb available directly from dropbox.com? Seems like the "official" one would have longer term support.

It is much more straightforward to take on a little side work. Set your rate to $100/hr and work an extra 20 hours a month. In today's market this isn't terribly difficult to do.

The author only addresses one side of the equation. The other side is the person who makes the loan. This bubble has a lot to do with the ease of which a loan can be obtained - thereby driving up the price (see: Housing Bubble). The bubble

That's a good question. That seems like important context. What does the "official system" consist of, exactly, and why do so many entrepreneurs apparently raise funds outside of it?
