To be fair, this blog article is not much about python but more about the bash (shell), the weirdness of quoting and the miracles of exec(3).

It is slowly dying. I see 0o123 as a notation for octal much more frequently then in the past. On the same line with 0b010101. Octal was a thing in the past, but is really seldomly used nowadays, in my impression.

You are right. I just thinked of a pirated version of Adobe Photoshop I once run for years just by keeping the system time basically constant, without changing anything else. Inconsistencies in this "scheme" are easy to check, jus

Oh I remember this also for setting older dates in VMs. In the end, it was a cat-and-mouse game as of course the authors of these softwares could easily detect such "temporal inconsistencies".

The DFT is not trivial at all. The standard way of teaching goes over calculus (including complex numbers), introduces the original Fourier transformation and then discretization (numerical mathematics). Having a PhD in physics, let me asse

Oh god, I remember cdrtools. It was such a cool software on the Linux desktop in the 2000s. Converting and Cloning CDs felt simple at Linux where it was notoriously challenging on Windows (I know I know. That's just my impression). Unf

Wow, this is a relic of another time. Seems like most of the features date from the 2000s, when XSLT was a thing, or the 2010s. The name is also obviously a pun on Apache webserver, the defacto standard at that time. In the meantime, web se

Cannot second this enough. I wonder why so many people want to go to FANGG where a well funded startup can be so much more exciting and little to no insecurity as an employee.

Stargate SG-1 was such an amazing TV series. I literally spent most part of my youth with watching Stargate and playing Starcraft. I don't believe Cheyenne mountain is for anything better then hosting the Stargate command ;-)
