That’s embarrassing and should be noted when he’s treated as a guru (as in today when I guess he gave a talk at Neurips conference) Of course, he should be listened to and treated as a true expert. But, it’s becoming more clear in viewing p

This debate is tiring from both sides. The best LLMs can already beat me in “most cognitive tasks” if you think that means sampling over possible questions.

Off-content-comment: I think this is the first time I’ve seen cloudflare “are you a bot” protection on a corporate blog post before. I think somehow related to AI companies viewing the web as valuable data to be stolen if you don’t have it

I think dang was responding to someone in a mid-sized US town, where there are probably more HN users. I think in other parts of the world, there really may be not many.

I think the problem is people are either (a) in tech-centric cities - where there are lots of other meetups and already know lots of HN types around. Or, (b) there are only one or two people in their city, so can't sustain a meetup. (Q

Some people may be surprised at the level of historical detail that has been discovered, particularly for the Maya who left written records. for example, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_kings_of_Copán

In some tech circles, it’s not denial of involvement, but that involvement is good and needs to be stronger. See the recent viral monologue from the CEO of Palantir where he says we need to dominate and have everyone live in fear of us (and

I think the problem is with outliers. Most people don’t have problems with thier health insurance because they don’t interact with it much or just have routine care. But if you’re unlucky, it can ruin your life or the life of a loved one. I

Final sentence is telling (among others): "Violence never solved anything" is a statement uttered by cowards and predators. Although I'm not sure what "predators" means here. Don't predators use violence

This post is dumb in many ways not worth listing. And because of that, I realized I just read something nearly word-for-word on twitter (@peruvian_bull). Is that you or is this just copy pasta? https://x.com/peruvian_bull&#

This is asking if he was influenced by a movie that hasn't been released yet? Seems like a stretch. Also, normal-guy-snaps-and-takes-revenge seems like one of the biggest genres for awhile now.

How much of Silicon Valley’s MAGA turn extend to ordinary employees, rather than executives? I’m not asking for anecdotes, but would be interested if anyone can point to data.

I don’t think we’re real close to a “French revolution”, but an executed CEO today could be a symptom of the situation. (Of course, we don’t know the motive yet. But just the online discourse around it is telling).
