Agree. Never had a single problem that wasn't immediately resolved in over 300 orders. Prior to using amazon my options were basically phone up then trek to Foyles in London or go to my local book shop and try and work out how to get t

I certainly am excused when we don't have proportional voting, coalitions are used to keep the major parties in power and I don't vote anyway because I do not wish to be responsible for what the government do which is never what I

Thanks to my tiny phone screen, I accidentally downvoted you. Sorry. I agree entirely. Have two upvotes for other posts.

As a veteran programmer (20 years now, pretty much everything out there), I spent a couple of days with Node to see what all the fuss was about. I walked out with 'meh' after working out I can shift more requests with asp.net and

There is already SCOM+SCCM for this but you better have some bars of gold lying around that you can afford to toss out of the window.

Fair point. There is a shit ton of moronic dross in the UK. I've actually been told I was "gay" (immature eh?) for not reading a Murdoch rag before so your point hits home pretty hard. Perhaps I should just move out of the co

It's only blame because on the 90th time you've found a rotting turd in your 1mloc enterprise codebase that nearly shot the company properly, you really do want to blame it on that budget outsourcing outfit or the HR member who re

Let's kick the Brits out of the EU (they don't seem to be too happy in there anyway); they are basically just a foothold for the American fascists in the EU and do their bidding Brit here (well half German so you will get the ir

I am an MSDN subscriber as are the other 100 people we employ. Definitely not free. Really don't care about Windows 8.1 APIs. The only thing that concerns me is web and WPF Desktop apps in C# as that's what powers my industry. Com

There's one here. It stinks on our 1Mloc C# project to the point you have to disable it or it crashes VS every 5 minutes.

There was no cool stuff. They fixed a load of stuff, threw new versions out and spun it as marketing. It's not cool if you have to pay for it at a rapidly growing pace.

This was shoreditch. Don't forget between city road and shoreditch is one of the worst estates in London. You must have been lucky but we had constant problems 2-3 times a week. Sold up and bought a nice place in Strawberry Hill for th

Depends what you are after and what city. Having mistakenly bought a house in a hipster infested area of London a few years ago, I wouldn't recommend your approach unless your idea of a good night out is doing copious amounts of coke i

This. We have a firewall in our company to stop things escaping as much as letting them in. There are so many things built into windows that phone home its scary. Even a VLK 7 with internal KMS has a good bash at trying to get out of the ne

To be honest, as a Java veteran, there is very little XML any more apart from a bit of Tomcat config usually. It's all gone in favor of annotations which are much better. It ain't J2EE 1.4 days any more (thank fuck). The only thin

Tip: don't use dovecot-lda. Let postfix handle it. Dovecot LDA is chroot hell. I worry about the same things which is why I'm actually migrating my email to outlook.con slowly (in spite of the NSA etc). She knows my passwords alre

Do you really need to be taught art? Firstly, it's subjective which means you can't necessarily be taught it and then be graded accordingly. Secondly, it's something which comes with only practice. Cramming it in a set time p

Spot on. Another TV-free household here. I had some of my daughter's friends over for a sleep over last year (ugh) and we had a 15-year old 26" Sony Trinitron CRT which I was ridiculed for by them as they all have massive plasma&#

It works really well with children. Having too much crap is thoroughly depressing for them. They don't like the idea of volume reduction to start with but they appreciate it afterwards. I've brought mine (3 girls aged 1, 6 and 9)
