Seriously? I find it much easier from an admin and dev perspective. It is less forgiving, that is correct, but that's a good thing. Oh and the documentation is wonderful compared to MySQL. Plus it works properly.

This. Notation in formal mathematics is just totally awful. You pick on a great example as well there.

Indeed. Facebook are a rotten company like this. They'll throw something out, then yank it if they get caught. It makes you wonder what we haven't noticed yet.

I've had many experiences like this as well. Even some of our paid for software gets scared if you use a buggy MySQL version (TeamCity for example refuses to start on certain MySQL versions). Switched to postgresql now - just works!

Until you get a can of cheap imported "air duster" air which contains propane propellant still and instantly results in a firey ball of death... Only posting this because I've done that before :)

Unfortunately not often enough. We're stuck with a human QA cycle and some legacy processes enforced by a PHB from hell which mean it can take literally months, even from our CI server.

I have a signify key as well so yes it is minimally two-factor. Fair point about the keylogger. I didn't consider that - it's not my network to worry about :)

"possibly" is the answer to that question. They found a few flaws but not necessarily anything conclusive.

Installed. Don't like it at all. The apps screen is a disaster and it's clunkier than Windows 8 was originally. Not impressed and rather annoyed that I wasted another evening.

well to be honest this line usually gets 1200-1500k/sec but it just rained which knackers it for a day at average. The joys of ADSL. Agree in a way though. I still remember being utterly jaw droppingly surprised when I got a 128k ISDN

We use RDP + TS gateway over VPN which you have to auth your remote key before you can connect. That's 4 factor :)

Available on MSDN subscriber downloads in x64 ISO form now. Downloading at a pitiful 600k/sec :(

Well mainly because all the decent 3d modelling packages run on Windows? (Solidworks basically)

They usually +1 the version every time there is a base windows release which is what Windows 8.1 actually is. I'm not complaining as I get it on MSDN under my subscription.

Well spotted! I was worried for a minute there. I don't know any product that could even reach 5000 API calls. Win32 isn't anywhere near that even after 20+ years.

Hey I slated their VC stuff (see my threads), but this is good news. I wouldn't tar the entire organisation with the same brush. There is hope yet!

Or is it just how the majority of the planet live other than yourself? I've been around a bit and the whole extreme food hygiene thing is pretty much irrelevant in most of the world. This is not "survivor bias". That's a

Hell I used to eat fish I yanked out of the dirty stink hole that was the river Thames in London when I was a kid in the 1980's. Still here three decades later. Not everything is going to kill you.

No way. I'd take dirty cash from Larry Ellison before I signed up to anything related to them these days. This is after 20 years of working with Microsoft on large enterprise products, some of which were built in partnership with them.

Simply awesome. The people who research, design and implement these "hacks" deserve infinitely more credit and acknowledgement than all of us. It really annoys me that the superficial celebrity turds on legs get so much attention
