I'm not sure if this is still the case, but Youtube used to use WebComponents v0 which has to be emulated in JS in non-Webkit browsers, since only Google ever implemented v0, while everyone else agreed it required a bit more work, and

I understand and agree with "make the game fun despite computer power", but you got to understand that at least in the current industry climate it means less games are even viable for porting at all. Basically every triple-A studi

Maybe for the first year or two, but many many games are pretty much untouched after that, even though there is a long tail of players still buying and playing them. And yes, many expansions and additional content are usually data-driven, s

Neat, on the bottom of the page there is a switch that changes all screenshots to Dark Mode (to demonstrate the OS's feature). But the neat part is that in the "Gaming" card, it swaps Firewatch (a game/movie-with-buttons

Facebook is a very large company that uses lots of tools, and (apparently) encourage some degree of independence between its teams. So it is likely one or a few teams might be using this. I always take this kind of listing with a big grain

As an user of a language with diacritics back in the 2000s, I certainly switched to English whenever I saw broken encodings. I can only imagine the incentive must be greater if a site is actively broken or unusable.

The thing is that there is the Promise "class", which is provided by the environment, but there is a interface called PromiseLike, which is defined as having a method called then that takes one or two functions. Now, JS doesn&#x

No, it's due to using a custom event handler to trigger page changes, instead of the proper <a> link element.

I found the README is not particularly useful in informing what the library does, but it seems to be a big bag of data structures, algorithms, and performance utilities. The overview is much more informative: https://github.com&#

It's not just about speed, it's about timing. With setInterval the alignment of the screen refresh and the code to update will quickly become out of sync and cause periods where 2 frames are the same.

Yes, and it's a recurring theme. In Portuguese we have a word "esmero", which is very applicable. It means something made with extreme care and craftsmanship. For example, I once needed to take a very precise crop off a scree

Fair enough, but I frankly wouldn't trust it exposed on the internet. If you really need, run a reverse proxy only on the /video endpoint. For I don't know how hardened the focus and automation control APIs are.

Yes! In fact, games use another method that could also be very beneficial in VR: signed distance-field rendering. As far as I know it's mainly used for text, but there is nothing specific stopping it from working with other kinds of im

I can almost see a more traditional tech company buying a bunch of those for their workers in the current climate, even at such a ridiculous markup, just to guarantee a "standard" workspace.

It seems to have massive delays if I capture on full resolution (3060x2295 on my phone), but that is a ridiculous number that can't even be transmitted over my internet, so I run it at 1280x720, which has basically ideal latency.

I've had huge success with IP Webcam, especially since it appears to be a standard MJPEG stream, so very hackable (in the good sense). The web interface also crucially adds UI for focusing, in addition to the customizable in-phone UI.

It is hardly reliable, given how great of a percentage of people have drift issues, as well as obvious oversights in the joycon build: overly long flat cables that have to be bent 180deg and end up breaking, use of a plastic that is clearly
