It was on the front page for a while, however it was the weekend, so likely didn't garner as much attention. And was like 2 hours... not 8-9+ like Azure.

I agree. Nothing in the feature list looks compelling for a fork versus making modules or submitting a patch back.

No picture of the phone? If they unveiled it, then you'd think there'd be a picture of it.

I would highly suggest having someone proofread your site. Your about page says you're from Dallas, so it sets the assumption you're American, but the grammar is very poor.

"Your work won't be canceled due to some political/financial upheaval" Don't think that is true anymore. Wasn't there a post by a former project manager of Silverlight a while ago? While that may not be representative of Microsoft to that d

A better title to the post would be "A Letter from a Congressman...". It is not all of Congress, it is one person.

There is a difference between "we" and "you". Yes, I am not 5 mins away during the day, however my wife and kids are. In 4 years, we've never had to pay for a babysitter, we are very close with our families and see parents and nephews wee

I already do work from home 1-2 days a week, however the other days it is still a lot of time out of the day.

I work in SF, but live ~2.5 hours away by Stockton. Moving isn't an option, family is important and we have tons of family within 5 mins. However, the nice Ruby jobs are in SF. There are dev jobs in Sacramento, but it is mostly governmen

Especially at the age of 2. I have two boys, 4 and 2, and have spent the past 2 years with a 5 hour a day commute. It is not uncommon for the 4 yr old to ask if I can stay home in the morning. They care more about visibility and don't un

Why is this company getting so much attention as of late? I've never heard of them until recently, and considering how crowded the whole VPS/dedicated server market is, what makes them stand out?

I think he was talking about average in terms of talent while you seem to be thinking in terms of social norms. The way I've seen is put is: A's hire A's and B's hire C's (couldn't find the original source of that) Highly talented people l

I understand the technical reason for this, but it sounds backwards. In order to opt out, I need to authorize GitHire with my Github account. They already spammed my email once, so they have it. Send me an opt out email.

Mentioning standards and security audits makes me cringe in their current state. Certainly agree with you that they'll help, but many are draconian. Things like physical access lists when you use cloud services... or policies on tape back

This is based on my own biased opinion... It can happen for a number of reasons and isn't necessarily with securing a webserver. Sometimes security issues get that "well, it isn't an issue right now" view and get put in a backlog and never

I didn't see an ultimatum in the letter. It expresses that he doesn't support it and doesn't like to be associated with a supporter, but doesn't pose any "or else" clause.

I agree that blame isn't all on the user... but most articles seem to be very one directional. Even the person in the article mentions seeing the warning but quickly dismissing it. Think how often you see an alert pop up and dismiss it wit

I use Uber from time to time and enjoy it immensely. I agree with several of the article's things Uber could have done better, but so much of the whole outcry is people not wanting to take responsibility for their own actions.

The wording of "I'm not excited about it but I'll do it" has me worried. Typically those kind of things end up poorly executed/implemented. In terms of split views, its not a big issue for me, but to publicly state that is your approach ha

Even more confusing... Go to AppFog (who they renamed to, but seem to still be furthering PHPFog) and click on "Blog" and it goes to the PHPFog blog... but there actually is an AppFog blog, just nothing links to it.

This the more polite "I work at Zynga" option? More seriously... probably more along the lines of company fails, maybe left before vested, etc. Curious to see a list of ways though... or peoples experiences.

I agree that there are many developers like that, who don't jump at picking up new technologies, but I don't think those are the type of developers a startup like Digg would hire or attract. More often, I think companies struggle to pick up
