Last time I made interview rounds, about 50% of places gave whiteboard questions, 25% gave essentially the same questions but had me do them on a computer or screenshare rather than a whiteboard, and the rest had some kind of take home comp

When we were refugees in Germany, my parents felt stuck in a tiny town with few jobs because the job center made mobility out of the place you "landed in" extremely difficult. Being able to travel and move about the country freely

Hmm... Rust might be in that ballpark. Certainly more "batteries included" than c and at about the same level of abstraction overall. It depends of course on how cumbersome you consider the ownership system

I felt like I spent roughly the same amount of time working around Java's type system with copious amounts of boilerplate as I did fixing wrapping my head around type-related bugs in ruby, especially at scale because of how inflexible

Spotify is great for many more foreign and obscure genres and artists. It's nowhere near complete, but it gets closest to having everything I look for.

You are correct. I doubted JIT was the right word at the time but couldn't think of the right term. Incremental support is what I mean.

It's the workers who have been shafted by declining standards of living, stagnant wages, rising prices, false promises about the benefits of free trade agreements, and increased immigrant labor -- coupled with an increasingly bureaucra

I had this with the ternjs plugin. Out of the box atom is pretty snappy on OS X. I haven't used Windows in a decade but I often see comparisons to Visual Studio accompanying complaints about Atom so my best guess is that it's eith

Atom hovers at less than 5% usage between at least 5 separate workers for me. It's no 'ed' in terms of RAM but if it's under a gig it's fine by me. Certainly better than IntelliJ was in that respect. Works pretty pe

No upsides compared to what? Faster development time compared to Java, C-family languages is an upside. Faster VM (V8) than Ruby MRI, and just about every other dynamic scripting language, is also an upside. It's also an incredibly eas

Sure, but the point is there are many off chart artists and tracks that I'm aware of, or own, that Spotify provides no access to. I've also found great underground albums by artists that one day went dark on Spotify. That happens
