A good take on this from a writer friend of mine: the people that "pirate" the book were likely never going to pay for it. But they could very well recommend it to people who might prefer buying it. The more it gets "pirated&

I think there's a dividing line between plot-driven and character-development driven works for lack of a better word. I think plot driven stuff should pretty much follow very common heuristics (the horror story, the heist, the serial k

This seems like a very good thing and has support from the right people (which quite frankly surprises me a bit). The problem/solution graphics are pretty clear and a great way to visualize why this is a good idea. Bookmarked :)

Who's the goto "freedom/privacy marketing" organization (EFF seems to be legal only)? This is an excellent propaganda for freedom opportunity. It involves a creepy invasion of privacy targeting children. Needs to be used

If I was writing megacorp scifi I'd have them grow via military contracts and eventually merge with Palantir (and maybe some innocent litte AI startup that gets gobbled up, where the hero works) to be one of the megacorps that essentia

Made me wonder if I'm "the EU" do I respond to this by a) Saying that the same rules will apply to UK citizens living in EU countries at that point in time (hard line). b) Saying "UK folks welcome". c) No comment&#x

One could also foresee a rush out since the country is turning into a place many people would probably not want to live in. Seems naive to assume you won't be kicked out eventually.

I'm curious...are you worried about this release? Seems like all I'd need to compete with you (vastly simplified but for arguments sake) is hack together a simple webpage with a submit button that uses Prophet. Assuming both model

Only if the store is close by or you're willing to make a somewhat spontaneous decision. Imagine driving 3h+ to the nearest store, measuring the stuff not being 100% sure if it actually has enough space etc. etc. Also the IKEA in store

Interesting, thanks. It obviously depends a lot on the job but I would have thought that a good math background (which typically CS grads should have) would be enough for many applications. Especially since you mention the business problem

I think doing well on Kaggle competitions would already be a good enough indicator for smart companies so it might be a good idea to have student teams do those on the side. Might be a decent idea to inform students that these exist. I feel

Just publishing the raw data and the methods section would be enough imo. Alas trying to get scientists to publish the data sets for their research is surprisingly hard for various reasons.

Still looking for a board game friendly bookshelf from one of the major chains. Depth is the problem, need roughly 30cm of usable depth. I'm currently using IVAR but it's more of a temporary solution. I own about 4 Billy for books

On top of that the FBA also seems to enable massive tax fraud. There was a report on German TV recently that the vast majority of products for certain categories that are produced in Asia (mostly China) shipped via FBA on amazon.de don'

By design, in case of a collision the new version will not replace the old (older version has preference in case of a collision). Not sure if you could somehow fiddle with the meaning of old and new from the systems POV though.

How should I interpret their picture? Can I get an AMI with Keras preconfigured on a p2 instance? Because that would be pretty useful. I currently have a p2 instance (smallest possible one) that I spin up for training and the like.

#1 and #3 could also mean that you need more "junior games" right away that kind of sort of simulate the entire experience instead of learning from elements. I suggest picking up a copy of "Making Learning Whole" by Davi

The author asked a bunch of questions and even used the anecdote in a blog post. I think tipping here is fine and also the ethical thing to do. There was no tip option so...shrug. Do people not carry cash anymore, could have tipped in cash

This might be as good a place to ask as any. Does anyone have suggestions on the problem of annotating natural language text to get a ground truth for things that have no readily available ground truth (subjective judgments of content etc.)
