Yeah I think the guide is; get rid of the degree, consultancy, startup, or child (in decreasingly sociopathic order).

Thank you for posting this. This article is incredibly refreshing, and I think people in the position to hire new employees should definitely read this. I wish more people had such integrity.

We should absolutely be more worried about digital rights and freedoms, because freedoms with your car are already pretty well secured. You can loan it to a friend, you can sell it, you're allowed to take it apart and mess with it on your o

Why don't we err in favor of the user instead of the developer? It's bad enough that they cannot get apps from anywhere but the App Store, give them a break.

False analogy. The camera and microphone aren't readily available to non-running apps, whereas push notifications are. Push notifications can also interrupt other running applications. Allowing them globally is a far greater burden on users

I agree with the GP post. What they need is better value. If all they have is that they know about it and you don't, why are they being paid such a large rate? If that's all they do, they should be paid slightly more than a job posting rate

In this case the term "source" is obviously a rhetoric device, and we can avoid a lot of pedantry by noting that the poster was totally transparent about his reasoning thus achieving the ends we want via means that aren't awful. PS having a

It's not gray at all. You may record someone in public. You may record someone on private property iff you have permission or you are on public property. You may not use their image in an advertisement without a signed release. (IANAL also)

What's worse are laws that are basically enacted in reaction to some specific situation but shouldn't be applied or necessary in the general case. Sometimes it seems like the majority of the legal code is archaic if not completely corrupt.

I'm assuming you've seen the $1 gesture recogniser; but on the slight chance that you have not, I think you'd be interested. You might be able to let users define their own gestures.
