Everyone needs to be taught about jury nullification for cases like this.

An hour of GPU is not much. I think a single GPU can do a few Megahashes per second. To hit one BTC/day you would need about 20 Gigahashes per second all day. I think they'd make a bunch more by showing you the ads. http://www.bitcoinx.com

While it seems ridiculous to complain about which FOSS license is being used, it's a legitimate observation since there are certain app stores that disallow GPL'd code entirely. It'd be nice if the author was willing to change the license b

I don't think it's necessary to bring out the FBI on this one, but it is nice to see the government focus on actual crimes instead of inappropriate downloading of public resources.

I agree. I don't pay for anything unless I can try it or read a ton of reviews about it first. I've still gotten burned a few times but never felt any moral outrage over it. It's not some inalienable right to download stuff for free.

Instead of making high quality games in the game, the pirates should make crap knockoffs of already popular games and then spend most of their effort on publicity stunts; that seems to be a better strategy.

That's because they are talking about the pinnacle of chipmaking tech. There are many more companies that can make chips on a larger scale.

Are you writing that they should have been pro-sterilisation? They could just round up and shoot all the slum inhabitants so they wouldn't need to wait an entire generation to be rid of them.

It's a bad situation to be sure, but it's still rude to denigrate the entire country like that.

This is disappointing. I'll say that I wish the situation would change so that you would be able to get funding without the dog eat dog, allowing you to share source code and ideas. Think how much would the next version of you be able to do

I guess the real solution is to get society to agree that a minor crime shouldn't be a barrier to employment.

That sounds tough but feasible. I think the consultancy bootstrap is a good idea. I'll get in touch via email, I'm quite interested in knowing how it goes :)

The world is turning SaaS-only because it's easier to do business when you have predictable monthly income, processes that are easily debuggable because they are only on your platform, and a far simpler customer support scenario (fixing one

Something like this should be passed out to every young person that enters the workforce along with a pamphlet outlining the expected odds of being promoted from a low-level position to a managerial position.

How is overcharging clients a crime? You mean billing for time that wasn't actually spent on the client, right?

That sounds good. Think about how, e.g., Gmail lets you persist sessions on each device. They're doing a password auth over HTTPS and leaving a cookie with some session token.

This is a fantastic point. Someone should make a pull request so that the app requires some CERTIFICATE_PATH variable set and won't work without it. HTTPS or equal security is absolutely required for anything to do with online payments.

If you want inscrutable Haskell you should go with the <$> operators :) I'd personally still rather have a vvs.reduce(env){|env, (a,b)| M.insert(a, b, env)} but the for loop is perfectly readable also because it fits on a s

Different domain is fine. [1,2,3].reduce([], &:unshift) #=> [3,2,1] I don't see a problem with writing a for loop, but I think it's not as composable and it can be a little harder to read. So I don't think it's purely relig
