Regarding UK, don't think it had much to do with Brexit at all, the song was just plain bad. I wonder however how did it win within the UK to be sent out at all.

It would shrink, definitely, but as the other two it wont disappear as it's actually required, both as protection against inflation or also as a fast and no-middlemen way to send money. And for specifically for bitcoin[1] the "goa

There are other areas that are illegal but don't appear to be going away, like drugs and prostitution. Wouldn't criminalizing crypto just move the entire thing under ground? This would perhaps limit its "market cap", but

I think we should also ban trucks, too, as how else would you steal a TV nowdays. I think what the author of the tweet is missing is that crypto is here to stay and it would be invented again if it didn't exist. (I.e why don't we

Larger repos and slow to clone. Also, difficult to get into OpenBSD develooment when you already know git but not CSV. Fortunately there is a git mirror, so it's actually not that bad. Perhaps one day when most of the devs prefer git t

My dream would be to run nixos on my phone so I could have all my devices configured from a single set of config files. Could then unify entire infra from config to sync and backups.

Perhaps it's not that simple, true. What I meant was that there are people who need to heat a room, but are hobby IT people. So instead of getting a radiator they put a mining rig in the room. It won't mine in any substantial am

If you have a choice between a radiator and a miner, then you do mine to make the heat. The added btc (or any other) is a bounus which perhaps helps to cover the electricity. Since the bulk of mining is done in specialized facilities then h

Let's try to get to the point then! Any server not configured to reply with permissive CORS headers doesn't want to handle your cross-origin requests. I.e they are not "public areas" for anyone to consume but serve jus

Not an expert, but porting graphics is the biggest effort. This patch appears to add just the CPU part. Here is one effort to port all of M1 macs to linux: https://www.patreon.com/marcan

Most if not all of the links point to themselves.. It's ok to think that in an ideal world it would be like that, but argumenting as if you were entitled to the source because of it doesn't seem that it will persuade others. After

Ok, but they should be forced then to do the things they don't want to do? What I mean is: if Signal is not Elment.io/matrix, and that the latter is better for freedom and openness, then one can agree with with that. But what I do

No ;), the point of CORS is to open up the web for cross-origin consumption from the browsers by allowing servers/services to opt in with special headers. Single origin policy is the one that protected against cross-origin requests and

Most of the popular chat-app space is not open source. What is it with Signal that people feel entitled to condemn it for not having the latest commits on github?

So in principle we do have this mobility because you can run your own servers. Perhaps it is not all that unlikely that they will do a bridge to matrix.

Not entirely sure what parent meant but it seems that many web developers are still confused as to why they can't consume any site on the internet from the front end.

I would think any service that wants to be consumed will have CORS configured? All else should be forbidden, that is the whole point of CORS.
